Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates

On competition at camp for roster spots
You can look at the bottom six spots, the third and fourth lines are all up for grabs. You can even say the same thing for defense. There are lots of spots to fight for. We're not going to hand out any jobs, you have to earn them. It should be a really competitive camp and it'll push us to become better as a hockey team. We have extra guys here, so they'll have to work to earn their spots.

Verbeek not wanting to set a captain is good news. It should be someone new with a fresh voice.
I don't see anyone on the team right now as 'captain material' - what are you smoking?
Fowler and Henrique have been here long, but that doesn't mean they have great leadership qualities.

Not naming a captain means there isn't one to name. Putting a C on someone's jersey doesn't mean they are the leader.

We're going to take our time. There is no rush. When we name a captain, it's going to be the right guy and a guy we plan on being here for a long time.
That's gonna exclude a lot of 28 year olds or older. The next group jumps all the way down to the youth group of Terry, Zegras, Drysdale, and McTavish. We may not name a captain this year.
I think they know its going to be McTavish, but dont want to put that pressure on him right away. So the easiest way to do it is say we're not naming one at the moment.

They were really talking up Terry getting more involved as a leader at the end of last season, it wouldn't surprise me if he's the front runner. If McTavish were the heir apparent, seems like letting one of the vets emerge as a bridge captain would make more sense than categorically excluding it as a possibility?
The way Terry looked up to Getzy I wouldn't doubt if he emerges as captain when it's all said and done. Getzlafs skill on the ice won't be the only thing that Terry will be trying to emulate.

Interesting hire. Looks like his previous work was on a hockey prospect development model.
Some notable people congratulating him, seems that he could be advanced.
Our org is making some pretty big steps with marketing, now with analytics. This is exciting and I'm not even a big analytics guy, but seeing work being done on multiple fronts, we are doing some great work!

I would think not signing a contract and having to wait would be a bigger distraction than getting signed now....

Going to be a lot of Zegras to the Rangers or Devils threads happening next year. lol
Verbeek should just give him that 8 and 8 deal and be done with it.
This kid not only has the skill and potential to being a PPG player but he is attracting fans and viewers to Anaheim. Which is huge.

No I said he just doesn’t have the skill and potential but he has the flair on and off the ice that attracts viewers and fans to Anaheim.
Meaning he has the potential and the marketability.
