I mean inflation alone should take it there… Matthews was already going to get $15M+ wonder how high he can go.

I wish wed trade shatt, and go grab Holl... Holl fits the general need of the team more than shatt does.... and holl can basically be had for a 6th or 7th i imagine. Leafs basically have to move him to get under cap before season starts.

Tavares, Engvall, Benn, and Liljegren are all hurt, so they don’t have to trade anyone yet.

Hip hip Horray for ESPN plus……. Oh wait I don’t have that……a lot of people don’t have that.

you don't have it bundled through hulu?

Do the players still 'owe' the owners for the shortened season?

If Zegras isn't ready to start the season

Henrique-Strome-Terry
Comtois-McTavish-Vatrano
Grimaldi-Lundestrom-Silfverberg
Grant-Groulx-Regenda/Jones

That 2nd line would be an absolute disaster in the defensive zone. I’d do:

McTavish-Henrique-Terry
Comtois-Strome-Vatrano
Yeah, I'd expect Henrique to slide into the middle if Zegras is out. See if McTavish can establish his game on the wing first.

By clean you mean technically legal? I don’t know why they would be fine with their star player being targeted, but I guess that’s where we are at it seems.
He wasn't targeted, he had the puck and was slashing to the middle of the ice without taking a peek. "Targeted" to me would mean someone skated across the rink and laid him out. It was a hockey play, yes it sucks it was Zegras but it happens and it's going to continue happening. If a skill guy has a puck and trying to dangle through the neutral zone they will get caught every once in a while. If anyone had the puck and made that move in the same situation (pre-season, a guy known for hitting, trying to make team) they are getting trucked regardless IMO.

It's pathetic but I agree Verbeek doesn't care about the team getting abused he will not only do nothing about it he will add players like Grimaldi instead of Drew to force his message

Star players are targeted on every team. I think maybe we just forgot because our star players for so long were Getzlaf and Perry. Guys that could take care of themselves.

Kariya and Selanne have said they felt most comfortable when the Ducks had Stu Grimson watching out for them. I know the game has changed since then, but it’s still a tough sport. If your skill players are small danglers, probably a good idea to go get the toughest player you can. I’d overpay for Reaves to be honest.

I don't think Reaves is solving any of our problems. I'm on the side of getting a guy who is tough but also can play. Tom Wilson is a good example. The problem is those guys are about as easy to find as George Costanza when the bill comes.

Reaves isn’t a 25 goal scorer like Wilson, but he can at least skate a regular shift. He’s also probably the most intimidating fighter in the league.

Debatable.

I would have preferred to keep Des, although I haven't made up my mind on whether or not that would change much in terms of preventing our younger skilled players from getting gooned up. At the very least, we'd have someone to hold other teams accountable to a better degree than a guy like Henrique.

I also think there's some truth to what Verbeek said after the Terry incident. These kids are growing into men, so they're going to have to learn to stick up for themselves and each other.

why are you giving McTavish that 2c spot when Eakins has said he'll be starting out on the wing? what does Lundestrom gotta do even get a chance there? lol

A lot of people sleep on Lundestrom. Would love for him to have a chance on the top-6. I hate that people want to keep him as an ‘elite-checking center’ when he can blossom potentially somewhere else.
