Allison could be a very good player if he could stay on the ice for 70 games a year instead of 20.

But Torts is right, he's best when he plays north-south and uses his frame and aggressiveness - I hate big guys who want to play like small guys and negate the value of their size. Which is a problem I had with Jake, JVR and Hayes - all would have been better players if they use their bodies more - less about being physical than the advantage size and reach give you.

Big and strong is an attribute like speed, if you have it, use it.

So you want him to use him body more and also get injured less, and you're also comparing him to guys who have scored 800, close to 600 and close to 400 NHL points in their careers, when Allison has 20 at age 25.

Living in a fan fiction fantasy world has really done a number on your ability to contribute anything useful.

The problem with Allison isn't using the body, it's skating out of control and putting himself into situations where he gets hurt. A lot of using the body isn't about big hits, it's using your strength to win board battles, ride people off the puck, get in the dirty areas and anchor.

I'm not comparing him to anyone, I'm talking about style of play and use what you have.

He's already played 43.

Your arbitrary cutoffs have been making even less sense lately.

And what the hell is "out of control skating?"

Last week Allison was described as being too uninvolved and aloof now he's apparently careening into constant danger with no regard for himself.

What the hell?

What has been described is the tenacious forechecking that was very recently claimed was absent from his game. This is insane.

Have you watched some of the plays where he got injured?
The boy has enthusiasm, but too many pep pills (Firesign Theater reference).
But a lot of his good plays aren't from big hits (overrated, can someone shut up Jones and his obession with hits) but tenacious play along the boards, retrieving the puck and getting it to a linemate.

The 43 games so far is good, given his last few seasons, which is the point.
Same with Laczynski, if you can't stay healthy, you're not going to contribute much.

Thing with both players is given their age, they're probably going to be trade bait in a year or two (26 next year), so you'd like them to stay healthy long enough to garner some nice assets.

The same people who want to trade Laughton and Provorov b/c the team isn't going anywhere for a few years want to retain Allison and Laczynski?

Anyone over 25 next season should be available. Because in five years, they'll be over 30 years old.

It’s so dishonest comparing these two sets of players in value, let alone pretending you have us in some logical trap. Laughton and Provorov are signed to bigger deals and worth 1st round assets each. Allison and Laczynski won’t be on the next playoff team, I will bet on that. But they need to have value to move them. Hence playing them since they’re on inexpensive deals, seeing if they gain value, and then moving them. Real complex stuff.

Gee, isn't that what I said? Echo echo echo echo . . .

After seeing sports franchises employ rapists, wife beaters, etc., I can't get worked up about a player sitting out a Pride Night pre-game workout.

Provorov has been solid since he's been paired with York instead of TDA.

Too bad Provorov’s season stats are still shit, and he’s been incredibly gaffe prone to boot. For a guy who is idolized as a straight shooter, Tortorella is happy to wave away Provorov’s mostly sub-par play. No problem all year with his play. Barf.

We’ll see if GM Tortorella trades him this summer.
