Torts seems to be giving these Fletcher vets the opportunity that they need to play themselves out of town. Ex.-he gave Bellows time in just about every line; checker, scorer, bottom six; top sox; top line. When he miserably failed in all chances, there was not other choice left but to send him away. I'm waiting for Willman, Brown and MacEwen to finish the same treatment as TK, JVR and Atkinson or Allison get worked back into the lineup over the next few weeks.
These next twelve games are a gauntlet. This will should show to everyone that Fletcher can't be allowed to control the club. When this stretch is over, the Flyers will be one of the three worst teams of the league. The bottom line is that Fletcher has been here for four years and the organization is in worse shape than when he was hired. There should be a new group running the club after that. Lombardi, Briere and Torts?
Comcast has to realize the stink that is Fletcher. Roberts can't enjoy reading in the paper every day that Comcast should sell the club in order for it to improve. That's a level of ineptitude that the head office can't ignore or tolerate.
the only direction Flutch goes will be up..

he will be fired! but only to get moved up so "moreofthesame" Briere can become GM..

Fletcher could relinquish his gm duties and remain on as president. Give briere the responsibility of leading the draft with flairs assistance and handling roster construction but Fletcher would still negotiate contracts and financials.
I don't know that a nuclear option is necessary reconstruct things. Promoting briere and replacing one or two of the personnel people could be enough.

The idea that Lombard and hextall had of building from the back out is to me a solid strategy and played to their scouting strengths. The issue being those are good compliments to Clarke who understood forwards particularly centers. We don't have that guy anymore. We need to think long term who has a solid grasp of the game and where they excel not just in players but management

who would you ideally want to buy the flyers if Comcast got out?

Risto hasn't been the problem since he returned. xGF 49.79%, GF/GA 8/6.
You need another scapegoat.

Last 15 games, guys on the ice for most GA, Hayes (16), Tippett (15) TDA, Sanheim (14), Provorov (12), TK 10 in 9g.

After throwing out every single "locker room cancer, not the player he was before, terrible contract" authentic scapegoat over the past few years, I love the irony of "looking for another scapegoat" when looking at current standings. (and cap situation)

Is playing inferior dmen over superior dmen good coaching and management?

Only because has been sheltered like a rookie by Torts up until recently. We saw last night what happens when they try and use him in a top pairing role with Fumblerov - disaster.

Meanwhile Tony Angelo is performing worse than Ghost on offense, and on defense.

In case you were keeping score, since Fletcher said he was hopeful, the team has now dropped to only 3 points from last in the east - with Columbus having 3 games in hand - and 6th out of last overall. They're also now 7 points out of a playoff spot, and have played more games than almost every other team in the East.

They have 3 wins in their last 18 games. :)

In that span:
2.11 GF/G
3.56 GA/G
10.7% PP
73.2% PK

You're really using guys on the ice for most GA as an actual stat. You're more hopeless than ever.

Also, why is Brown playing over young guys? Thought that wasn't going to be an issue?

Still means he's not the biggest problem.

Provorov was much worse than Risto, there's something wrong with that boy, I think the core problem is bad habits of years of being told to play it safe and throw the puck off the boards - teams play the Flyers and know their tendencies - Shaw is trying to break them of that, but there's a general tendency to panic and make blind passes instead of hitting players to exit the D-zone.

If your ascribing blame for losing, actual goals are more important than projected goals.
If your trying to judge how a player is playing, independent of luck and teammates, then you turn to advanced metrics.
