MacEwen isn't being groomed for a top nine slot, he's a body, probably the 13th forward for a 3 game road trip (where you can't just dial up a replacement), maybe steps in a 4RW if Lycksell struggles in that role.

They see York as a top 4 D-man down the road, so no reason to rush him early in the season, let him play 20+ a night in LHV in all situations, show that he's ready, and bring him up to play every night.

Totally different situations.

Yeah, one is calling up a player who has done nothing to deserve it, and the other is justifying not calling them up because they have done nothing to deserve it.

Meritocracy for prospects only, vet roster decisions are purely vibes based.

Same as it ever was.
It's even worse than that.

It's not just calling up a guy who hasn't yet proven he deserves a call-up.
It's calling up a player who has already proven he's doesn't deserve a call-up.

MacEwen has made it clear that he's not an NHL player. That matter is already settled. Refusing to give kids a chance and giving another one to someone who has proven to be shit, but is big and punches people, is just your typical dinosaur bullshit.

Preseason is rarely full speed, though. You don't even see that. Every year there are various plugs praised for being fast in preseason then they get to the NHL and real game speed, and they're slugs
We're about to see that with belpido. Should get sorted out quickly. The last two preseason games were pretty close to early season games and he didn't look like an NHL player to me. My big takeaways were Braun looks cooked and attard reverted to when he first got here. Not exactly dramatic hot takes but it's a change in outlook from before camp started in the off season.

So either
A) Torts doesn’t have control of the lineup and Chuck is the boss
Or
B) Torts has control and chose MacEwen

I think the other option would be that both idiots like Mac and what he brings…getting pummeled in the face

Hextall got fired for many reasons.
yea, but i think the main reason is the alumni and oldheads got pissed off and started showing thier displeasure. from the start hextall said it would take time. if this team wasnt so hard up for people who havent been relevant for 20 to 30 years hextall would of had time to see his plan to fruition. this being said, im not saying things would be much differant from now, who knows? but i would of liked to see what he would have done with another off season.

Clarke got upset that Hextall didn't want his worthless opinions and didn't praise the alumni as if they were Gods.

That's why Hextall got fired and then got bitched about (and lied about) to the media by Clarke for years after.

Best part is they can't even act like it was because of results when in Hextall's last full season the team saw tons of improvement from key players, had 98 points, and made the playoffs.

Then they fired him not even halfway into the next season and they hire a far worse GM, who has had far worse results when actually trying to compete, and he's still here.

Nashville didn't start Saros two games in two days even though they had four days off till their next game.

Sure, I just can see the reasoning for doing it. Seems there were several times last season when they didn’t start Hart back to back there was complaining about it.
Didn’t realize they have another back to back this weekend. This weekend is a definite no on riding Hart both games.

Zamula posted an xGF% of 6.49% and xGFrel -38.33.
He was paired with Seeler, who played much better without Zamula.

The eyeball confirmed it, he just didn't look comfortable, was slow reacting to play around him.

Lycksell also struggled, I think he's still adjusting to NA hockey, we saw the same with Lindblom when he came over.
Crazy how seeing it live at on ice level was completely different from what actually took place.

It's a 3 game road trip, you need an extra forward and defenseman to ride the bench in case of injury.
You're not going to recall a kid to ride the bench, and who else would you recall at forward? Hodgson? Marody?

I don't know what is up with Atkinson, but let it be reiterated: extra 30+ term is rarely a good thing.
Atkinson was the only player they could get for Jake, who had negative value (which CBJ discovered after they signed JG).
Same contract amount, one extra year but lower cap hit.
In a post-COVID cap world, both players are basically unmovable.
