When are we getting the York Zamula pair back? What could more time in LHV possibly give York other than a reason to get injured playing wasted hockey?
There are too many NHL level defensemen on the Flyers roster. Having York in LV is a waste. Someone is probably going to get traded. Could be Provorov for a young top 2 center like a Horvath? It won't be Sanheim with his NTC, won't be TDA, won't be Risto since no one would take him. Has to be Provorov clear the log jam on D.

I am shocked he wasn't dealt in the offseason (though I thought Sanheim would be gone too). Maybe they feel like at the deadline or when injuries occur someone will overpay? I am 100% in favor of trading Provorov and if Horvath is on the table that's probably a good move, though not my first choice, but I think when he gets dealt he is going to go back to what we all thought/hoped he would do and we're gonna regret it in that sense, but I don't think he ever returns to that form here. It's both a win-win and a lose-lose situation IMO.

I was at the game Saturday. I was on the glass, so perspective is sometimes skewed, but I though Z was very solid. Seemed to read the play, was calm under pressure and could skate. Curious if my eyes close up matched what actually happened on the ice.
Zamula posted an xGF% of 6.49% and xGFrel -38.33.
He was paired with Seeler, who played much better without Zamula.

The eyeball confirmed it, he just didn't look comfortable, was slow reacting to play around him.

Lycksell also struggled, I think he's still adjusting to NA hockey, we saw the same with Lindblom when he came over.

There's no harm in giving MacEwen a shot under Torts, he's all of 26, Allison and Laczynski are 25.
Maybe he plays better in a fast paced system or maybe he just sucks.

Same with Belpido, who is also 26, at least you get to gauge his suitability as an injury call-up.
And I'd rather Braun be on the 3rd pair for 15 minutes a night than on the 2nd pair, paired with Zamula.

I think we'll see this all season, players will sort themselves out, and getting sent to LHV isn't like upstate NY, it's a 2 hour drive to S Philly.

Imagine how much more logical it would be to give a better player in York a shot under Tortorella. Wouldn't that make even more sense?

Hello there. I was the one asking about sandstrom the goalie? Is he the one playing even two games this week? Against tampa or florida`? And against san jose or the othet team during saturday or sunday no?

He got a shot, he sucked. Now he has to show he deserves another shot.
Really, it's an 82 game season, it's a revolving door between Philly and LHV, kinda silly to get up in arms over short-term transactions.

Hodgson is a good example, all that gnashing of teeth and he lasted one game.

Good bet he'll play one of the two games, but Hart is the starter and will play 50+ games

No, he didn't get a shot. Preseason doesn't count.

Remember how you came out of preseason praising Hayes' speed, and now it's clear he's still as slow as ever? And remember how all your preseason evaluations are wrong every year? That all happens because preseason is terrible for player evaluation. Hodgson also helps prove this.

York has played 0 real games under Tortorella. He has not been given any shot. Is choosing to play inferior players over better players good management?

Weird we gnashed our teeth at a player that didn't deserve to play in the NHL and what do you know? He didn't belong in the NHL.

Remember when you gnashed your teeth at the idea that the building was afraid to lose him to waivers and that was confirmed by CoC?

I'm not necessarily sure that's the case because i'm sure they'd rather have Belpedio sit in the press box than York but... having a long term top 4 spot open and not using York is... questionable.
York isn't a RHD and he's said he's not comfortable on the right side.
So why put him in a position to fail?
He'll be back at some point, like I said months ago, the key to this season is the April, not the October, lineup.
The players starting in March and April are likely to be in the starting lineup in October 2023.

And yeah, preseason matters, Belpido clearly outplayed any of the kids in preseason, yet was sent down - but it's not surprising he was an early callup.

Yes, thank you for the answer there. I thought so. They have picked him up now and send the other guy ersson down. That means ersson doesn't play against tampa or florida?

Having him within a fifteen mile radius of Lappy is putting him in a position to fail.

How do you know he's not comfortable on the right side? Wouldn't it be good for him to learn? You know, develop him, help him along, teach him? Instead of scouring every shift for the tiniest reason to punish him because this organization adores manufactured adversity and futility?

Your posts are really, really pointing to preseason being a bad way to judge players.

And who has replaced Hodgson? MacEwen.

(Lycksell has enough issues adjusting to NA hockey that playing the right side was a silly move, which they figured out after one game).

Torts played Hodgson like 4 minutes, "Ok, I gave your guy a couple shifts, he sucked, now send him down."

I thought Tortorella was in charge of everything? Why was Hodgson even on the roster, then?
