Because he wasn't playing anyway after he looked OK for a couple of games. Because other young players are playing every single game in the same environment that Regenda was in. I think they just want him to get consistent ice time and he wasn't getting it with the Ducks.

Wow. That's amazing how you completely neglect what the coach actually said and insert your own idea.

As a fourth liner, Regenda has had consistent ice time. If you did research work (which we know you admit you rarely do), in four out of five games, Regenda's played over 10 minutes on ice. In the one game he played under 10 minutes, he still got more time than Max Jones. Your bottom six shouldn't be carrying your team.

Eakins forced GM Verbeek's hands. Until his regulars and vets start stepping up, then it's not an ideal situation for a Regenda or a Leason. Regenda has waiver exemption to the AHL. Leason and McTavish do not, they're stuck at the NHL level. I'm glad Verbeek agreed with Eakins b/c Verbeek is in charge of the roster.

He's been scratched for the past 3 games, two of which the Ducks only iced 11 forwards. This indicates to me that he doesn't have a spot in the lineup. Hence, sent to SD so he can play.

What I honestly don't understand about the Regenda situation is the part about "it's not their job to get us out of that funk". Is it not a team? Can having a young promising player doing well have no galvanizing effect? Don't burden him specifically, sure, but the other young players are in the same situation. And if you scratch Regenda (or even Leason) you have to put someone there. It is Simon Benoit or Colton White's job to get the team out of the funk? I don't have a problem with sending Regenda down, and wish they'd done it sooner if they were going to scratch him, but the stated logic hits strange. Just say "well we can waive him" and be done with it.

Also, Eakins keeps calling out the veteran leadership, but other than the gimmick shuffle at the Rangers they've barely rotated the A's at all when we were led to expect they would. The consistency on that, combined with the frequent breaking up of lines that are performing well, gives off a real "the beatings will continue until morale improves" vibe. If they can sustain the better performance I guess it worked, but from the outside it's baffling.

Sounds like some Ducks will be making an appearance on next week’s episode of The Mighty Ducks. I’m guessing Zegras, maybe Getzlaf? Would be cool if Kariya or Selanne was on too

I heard it would be Zegras, Fowler, Terry and Jones. I think they did a couple of eps.

Watching that recent Bieksa speech in the Vancouver locker room.. Who the hell do we have that can/will do that? The leadership we've lost over the past 5 years is a massive hole in our roster.
Not exactly that speech but we have Shatty, Folwer, Strome, Silf, Rico, even Gibby

I liked Jones-McTavish-Leason tonight

I'm not sure I see the kind of leadership from that group that you get from a Getz, Bieksa, Perry, or Kesler group.
Absolutely not, lol.

But also, sometimes to get leadership you trade skill (Bieksa/Theodore, lol). Even tho sounds like that might have been avoided and both could be kept)

We have only 1 player with a positive +/-. Without looking up, can you guess who it is? I added the answer below, so you can play a little trivia with yourself.

It's Shatty
Proof that the stat means little to nothing. Especially over a 13 game period.

Well, it tells exactly that - Shattenkirk is the only of our players that have been on the ice for more goals scored FOR than AGAINST 5vs5. There is some luck and strength of opposition involved, but IMO that stat is not exactly all BS.

I have seen Shatty being frustrating and lazy sometimes, but under certain circumstances, he is a decent player, IMO. I'm pretty sure most of the blame on him comes from ''oh, we are used to blaming him. We're just gonna continue doing that''.

He's probably not part of the solution to get this team to win again going forward, but I don't think he's that much of a problem for it either. If anything, all indications are he's pretty good in the locker room.
