After him bouncing back last season, it has been very disappointing his start. Vatrano and Strome have been good but the tenured Ducks vets, not so much. I mean Silf did have that one really good game, when everyone else was bad or fatigued. Other than that, meh.
I think Rico's been snake bitten so far. He's not on the scoresheet much, but he's been active on the offensive side by being in front of the net often. Rico could have had a breakaway goal too, but snake bit by the post.
Rico: CF% = 52.0%; OZ start = 60.5%
Strome: CF% = 45.1%; OZ start = 60.0%
As for Silf, he's more engaged after sitting out a game.
I'm more concerned about our forward youths not producing. Terry and Zegras have been stymied since they were put on the same line which means the 2nd line centered by Strome needs to produce. Although Silf has been more engaged, I'm more concerned about Lundy's play. Lundy's regressed from his speedy, aggressive defensive play. It's like our youthful forwards are slumping hard.
As for vets not producing, Klingberg looks like a bust. One of our saving graces was that Klingberg would catapult our PP to the top to make up for our lack of physical defense for the PK unit. We're 0 for 17 on the PP since the first game. We're beyond the artic circle in coldness on the PP.
It's difficult to get excited about a rebuild year where the youths are slumping hard, our PP coach has no idea how to design effectiveness, and PK coach Stothers is having a difficult time with this year's PK roster lineups. I hope Eakins has a remedy for our youthful forwards slumping b/c they're the ones with higher potential.
