Yeah this year the defense is so bad around him it’s really giving him a lot of credit to how he improved. I’ve seen it with the eye test. He is making more of those plays to get the puck out of danger but is still getting pinned. that’s more on the defense, imo.

I think by the time he gets some of that mid 20s man strength, he'll actually have developed into a pretty good defensive player, possibly a good one. He has a natural knack for anticipation and advanced hand eye, it's just a matter of continuing to learn the position and getting some damn muscle on his frame. He'd grade out so much higher already if he was simply winning more battles.

Pointed this out on the main forum this morning, in terms of where he's at in his development at the same age, Zegras is tracking quite well ahead Datsyuk - which is the top end of the spectrum for what we could hope Z may become someday. There shouldn't be any sense that Z is already settling into what he's going to always be.

Yeah that thread was a little over the top. But a lot of non-Ducks fans going to bat for him which is cool. I hope Z reads HF boards and that thread. Would not be shocked if he does, and has a hat trick tonight, Lol . Wishful thinking. I’ll change my handle name to Michelangelo87 if he does tonight. Lol

Dude is pacing around 70 points on this historically bad Ducks team. Easily would be a PPG now on most any other team. A good PP alone would get him there.

Also, sending some love to Mac, also impressive to what he is doing on this team.

If they do somehow land #1 overall pick you want to keep the captaincy open, a Crosby tier #1 overall pick like Crosby usually ends up being captain. Also keep it open for McTavish to earn it.

As much as I'd like McTavish to get the C, he still doesn't have enough experience in the NHL. Terry, otoh, is probably the most likely to get the C if he is extended 5 - 8 years. Otherwise, we'll be going without a captain for a couple more seasons.

When do you think LaCombe is going to get here? Not sure when his season ends in college. It’s funny. McGinn actually upgrades our roster, I talked to some Pittsburgh fans and said he is a solid player, just overpaid and the contract was an issue.

i like his energy when he was in carolina, basically my go to 3rd liner in ehm. if not for his allergy to goalscoring, he would have earn much, much more. i wouldn't mind for him to be paired with z, for he's something like des, but without the fighting.

as for lacombe, if he go all the way to the final, by mid april iinm? frozen four is in early april.

He's got the Big 10 tournament which starts on 3/11 and ends 3/18. Then the frozen four which starts 3/19 - Minnesota will probably make the tournament regardless of whether they win the big 10, they're ranked #1 at the moment. The championship game is 4/8 I think? So we might only see him for like 2 games if they do well.

2 games is what i had him pegged at as well
