Do we know what happened to Jones this time?
He got injured in warmups somehow, or maybe something flared up in warmups that had been bugging him. Either way, the guy just will never be healthy, and it shouldn‘t be because he wore down, as he’s really not that physical for a guy his size.

Who do you guys think ends up better: Mintyukov or Drysdale?
Tough to say. We haven't seen much of Drysdale in the NHL and none of Mintyukov. I think Drysdale might have a better pedigree, but that isn't always everything.

Can you guys explain to me with is going on with Maxime Comtois? He was leading scorer of the team in 20-21, now he doesn't even have an assist in 23 games.

Our roster got so much better, he fell in the depth chart :sarcasm:

There is like 30% truth to that tho  as Rico is now LW and Zegras and McT took some spots on the PP. but that season was quite lucky for him and now we need him faster and more active. Which he is partially doing lately so hopefully he can become a reliable mid-6 winger for us

Comtois I still very much believe in. Jones, on the other hand.............is done
Jones has been a disappointment. He should just embrace his niche as a body checking wrecking ball, but he doesn’t seem interested.

Has it though? Or is the team complete garbage and the coach has no clue how to utilize him?
Agreed. Comtois should be attached to Zegras as his bodyguard and left wing scorer. Instead Eakins moves Comtois all around the lineup with no opportunity to regain his scoring touch.

Comtois has absolutely been given chances to succeed. His most common linemate is Terry. And Terry's underlying numbers are significantly better without Comtois.

Not saying he will follow Terry’s trajectory but I see a lot of early Terry in Comtois’ game right now.

I think a combination of injuries and getting too into his head. He’s young enough that there is still plenty of time

I wish Comtois was hitting more. At the world championships he seemed to hit everything that moved but as soon as he plays with the Ducks he rarely hits and doesn't really seem all that engaged in the game. Maybe all the losing has taken the motivation out of him. Can't really blame him at this point.

When was that? He hasn’t had consistent time with any skill players. He has had a lot of 3rd and 4th line ice time this season. Terry has also been invisible lately, and I don’t believe you can blame that on Comtois.

It’s tough when the whole team, outside of Benoit, is avoiding contact.

It’s been throughout the whole season. He has played 97 minutes with Terry at even strength. The next closest forward is Strome at 73 minutes. That means he has spent about 30% more time with Terry than he has with any other individual player.

The idea that Comtois was the leading scorer under Eakins and now cant score because of Eakins is a bit of mental gymnastics.

Comtois is responsible for Comtois. Hes had plenty of opportunities to play with top line guys, the problem is he doesnt play well enough to stay there and/or he drags down the guys around him.

He will have a career in the NHL, just not sure how long or prosperous it will be. His compete level is up there, he certainly puts in the effort, but he needs to take a page out of Terry book and stop trying to make things happen. He needs to just go out and play his game and simplify it.

So a guy struggling to stay in a lineup, during a contract year, is so affected by playing on a losing team that he's not motivated to earn another contract after this one?

People act like we've sucked for 10 years. We're not the Coyotes. These young players should all be loving this right now because there is no pressure on them to win. The only pressure is to get better and earn some $$ along the way.

If he was in his 30's and nearing the end of his playing days, I could understand that argument a bit better. But hes 23 years old and hasnt earned jack squat yet.

No, people are acting like the team has sucked for the entire NHL tenure of most of our youth which is absolutely true.
