Think stupider than that!
Trading Marner I guess but depending on the return it's not a crazy idea. Two years until UFA, just about a 100 point regular season player but they're so top-heavy and to no end come playoff time. I doubt there's much of a realistic deep path with Tavares around but either way their top six needs more tenacity. Bunting should be allowed to hit the market. Maybe a guy like Bertuzzi fits for them (a player a lot of teams will be after I suspect).

Unfortunately they wont give up nylander now, hes one of the only ones that was scoring. Marner would be a big contract to take on
Marner makes the most sense, since Tavares has a full NMC.

I'd strongly consider trading for Marner. A lot of salary but he is an elite player who's value may be too low because of playoff failures. He may be this years Matthew Tkachuk, or TJ Oshie for recent Caps history.

I think Wilson for Marner could be something. I’m not even sure Washington would have to add much.

Marner would be interesting because he’s one of the few elite playmaking wingers in the league rather than a center, so theoretically he could play opposite Ovechkin on the top line and really drive play and create chances.

His salary would certainly be a problem though. Not sure how that’d work with the cap unless Backstrom hangs em up.
