I think it also says, reading between the lines, that this year is about providing a support structure to help the kids grow, and that growing the kids is his goal. It seemed crystal clear to me that this year isn’t about winning. He may not complain if it happens, but making the playoffs is not the goal.

Blowing up the team at the TDL and expecting a playoff team the next year was too huge a leap to accept. When the team only replaced talents lost and not add more in the off-season pointed to a rebuild/development season. This article is literally spelling out we're waiting on the youths to continue to develop, both at the NHL and AHL levels. It's what we've been doing for the past few seasons already.

Maybe with this article, it'll quell the incessant "fire Eakins now" crowd and make them look for development in the youths instead.

I have no problem with this year not being about winning, but we are getting absolutely dominated, our team will start to lose confidence even more. I've been on both sides of it, losing like this absolutely sucks. How can we develop any of our young kids if we can't get the puck and never have it? Everything we do is 1 and one and that's no way to develop any hockey player. I haven't even begun about how we are getting abused physically and put forward an effort similar to a 10pm Thursday night beer league game. No one tries to get the puck back everyone stands around and hopes someone else gets it. We don't need to sign stars or even top 6/top 4 players but lets sign some players that may make it easier for our kids....

Actually, we do need top-4D defensive help if you want proper development. That was the most significant reason the previous season looked better. Verbeek gambled on letting Lindholm and Manson go, both top-4 defensive D. Currently, our best established defensive D is ::: gulp ::: Shattenkirk. Benoit is seen as a rotational D.

The team needs to get on the same page and realize they're a defensive and a physical deficient team. With several new players, it might take some time to get on the same page to play like Silf. Try to win via great execution, playing a simple game, and being opportunistic when the option presents itself. It sounds boring, but that's a great base for a two-way player. Hazy noted that a lot of our goals given up is because of our forwards not sticking with their assignment in our zone.

Defensively, most of the starting roster are OFD's, half of our roster is new, and we're rotating our 6D between Benoit, Beaulieu, and White. It might take a long minute to figure our blueline, but if Klingberg continues to be piss poor, then he needs to go the same route as Rico did two seasons ago.

We're slowly improving and that's all we can ask for.

Game 2: Gave up 7 goals. Goal differential was -6. PK went 4/4.
Game 3: Gave up 6 goals. Goal differential was -2.
Game 4: Gave up 4 goals. Goal differential was -2. PK went 2/2. Did not give up a goal in first period.

Similarly, we gotta see the development process will take two or more seasons.
Season 1 (this year): Focus is on forward development with Terry, Z, McTavish, Jones, Comtois, and Regenda in the NHL. Tracey, Perreault, Groulx, and Lopina could see some call-up time from the AHL.
Season 1 (after TDL): Get NHL experience for RD Andersson and RD Helleson. Maybe Vaaks returns. Maybe LaCombe and Thrun also get NHL games in.
Season 2: Focus should be defensive development in AHL as Minty, Zellweger, and Hinds will be there. Potentially, Thrun, LaCombe, and Helleson could be in the AHL.
Season 3: Focus on defensive development with the potential of seeing Minty and Zellweger. Luneau, Warren, and Moore could be AHL bound.

Russian scout Konstantin Krylov has been with the team since 2007-08
I don't know if you'll be able to answer this, but does he scout Russian players or is he just Russian? If it's the former then that's hilarious.

He scouts Russians. I remember him giving a quote sometime in the last 10 years when asked about the team not taking Russians and he pretty much said "my job is to recommend players and theirs is to select them".

Pretty sure krylov scouts all over Europe though, not just Russia.

This team looks totally confused on where they are supposed to be and how they are supposed to play. Guys at this level
Just don’t forget how to pass, shoot, or receive a pass unless they have 0 confidence in what they are supposed to be doing. It’s no wonder they look slow because they look like they are trying to think about what they are to be doing rather than just playing. That’s on the coaching staff. Eakins and all the coaches need to go.

It has always been my belief that you give everyone time. There are a lot of new players, many young players, no captain, etc... essentially, plenty of good reasons to wait and be patient. In that respect, I have always felt 10-20 games is reasonable to wait and assess the team before changes.

With all that being said, it's time fore Eakins to go. There is no discernable structure. The issue isn't success, it's lack of focus and coaching. I don't care if they lose because a team is better. However, the way they are playing indicates that the players are confused and there is no structure to fall back on. The Ducks are not skating hard enough. This is not a way to grow and learn but only fail. I am now officially on the fire Eakins bandwagon.

by approving a coyotes tier payroll.
I didn’t mind being a budget team years ago when we produced and were competitive

I don’t mind having to rebuild, we retooled ourselves into this hole and as fans got to enjoy the spoils of being a good team
For a long time

But this is a bit of time looking terrible and making many of the same mistakes in games under different leaderships.

It’s sad, I dont watch anymore, enjoy reading and making whiny comments in here, but I have lost a bit of interest in the Ducks the past few years.

Im an old guy who loves the game, but I also do t understand what this team is doing.

And I usually shake my head at the over the top “toughness” demands, but with all the kids we are playing and goalies being our strength, it’s just reckless to be as soft as this team is.

Honeymoon period for Verbeek is over, he allowed his young players to go into a season surrounded by soft non physical vets for the most part. Sorry to beat a dead horse but I'm flabbergasted that Verbeek who was a hard-nosed player found this acceptable.
I must have missed the honeymoon period.

If hes tanking on purpose.. Than hes gonna keep him..
They should move Gibson if tanking. No sense in wasting his time and getting a solid return.

It looks like a disaster on Verbeeks part as they probably were hoping to take a step this year.
