Would Guenette be considered the best skater between LT and JBD?
3 wins in a row. That time of year when they start to play well after shitty start trying to catch the playoff train.
Sounds familiarTough go with injuries early and they were never the deepest team
Your comment makes sense in a vacuum, but this has happened how many years in a row now? Excuses are lameTough go with injuries early and they were never the deepest team
Maybe but when your AHL team has little control over their budget and how deep a roster they ice .. its poignantYour comment makes sense in a vacuum, but this has happened how many years in a row now? Excuses are lame

Is there a salary cap in the A? If not, I would grant the BSens a bit more leniency...hard to contend forsure!Yeah, if you look at teams around the league... most of them have a few guys making close to an NHL salary. We have two guys making over $300k (Sabourin & Heatherington) and no one making over $400k.
Toronto ices a perennial contented, and they have Anderson making $800k, Clifford making $762k, Mete making $750k, Gaudette making $750k, Kallgren making $450k, Woll making $350k... huge difference.
Now, looking at the worst team in the league (Anaheim's affiliate, the Gulls, with 20pts in 34 games): they have Glenn Gawdin making $750k ($450 next year), Del Zotto making $450k, Chase De Leo making $350k ($400 next year)...
4th in the division is not bad at all given our injuries & lack of spending.
In raw points, yes, and in goals and goals per game, yes. Not in pts/game though. Our 2019 7th rounder RD is out producing our 2019 1st rounder RD.
Nope, no salary cap. At least as I understand it.Is there a salary cap in the A? If not, I would grant the BSens a bit more leniency...hard to contend forsure!
Difference being all those 750k are on one way salaries that the leafs buried in the minors.Yeah, if you look at teams around the league... most of them have a few guys making close to an NHL salary. We have two guys making over $300k (Sabourin & Heatherington) and no one making over $400k.

What's the difference, exactly? It's not like any of those guys were signed with the expectation of being regular NHLers.Difference being all those 750k are on one way salaries that the leafs buried in the minors.
Yes very very few teams give multiple players one way contracts when they expect them to play in the AHL.What's the difference, exactly? It's not like any of those guys were signed with the expectation of being regular NHLers.
With us, any high-salaried (aka 750k +) player who has played in the AHL was signed with the intention of being a regular NHLer, and only ended up in the minors after losing their spot (usually to really weak competition)

More importantly, though, 13 of Guenette's 19 points have been on the PP whereas only 4 of Thomson's 14 have been on PP. If Guenette can play an NHL PP, great. But if he can't, those points don't mean a ton in the context of projection (aside from the fact that he can do things with the puck).
