Yeah but can Manson do fancy spinoramas? The Manson hate is a little ridiculous around here. We probably don't win the cup without him, but we definitely DID win the cup without Girard.

Manson played a not-insignificant part in the Cup win. It was a good trade. We can also say the extension was unnecessary and is already not starting well. Both things can be true. The Manson hate is a little ridiculous around here. We probably don't win the cup without him, but we definitely DID win the cup without Girard.
He got hurt by blocking a shot, I'd not say that he wasn't starting well. He wasn't worse than the other dmen on the team at the beginning of the season. Literally all of them weren't as good as last year, starting at the very top.Manson played a not-insignificant part in the Cup win. It was a good trade. Not for nothing, but Landeskog was a key piece of a Stanley Cup championship run in the first year of his contract. If you're looking for contracts that didn't start well look no further than the Captain's and Nichuskin's.
How did he win game 3? He only played like a minute before getting injured.Girard won us game 3 vs the Blues. If that games swings the other way, who knows how that series goes.
Bah I meant game one. He was out best player in that game. How did he win game 3? He only played like a minute before getting injured.
I mean, the Avs utterly dominated the Blues after going down 1-0. I don't think Girard was make or break in that win lol. And it was Manson who scored the GWG in OT.Bah I meant game one. He was out best player in that game.
Go rewatch that game. He was a big reason we dominated. That was the best he's ever looked. He was also good in game 2, but we did lose that one.I mean, the Avs utterly dominated the Blues after going down 1-0. I don't think Girard was make or break in that win lol. Every defensemen that game was between 65-80% Corsi. The entire team dominatedGo rewatch that game. He was a big reason we dominated. That was the best he's ever looked. He was also good in game 2, but we did lose that one.
Actually defenders are more ready for it now and often times he doesnt get the separation he used to when doing it. He will do the spin move and have the defender on his ass and he often times just chips it off the glass and out. We dont see those amazing 3 line passes to a forward from him anymore.I take Manson every time too. He may have his flaws during the regular season but come playoff time he’s a beast. I like G but he’s not particularly good at any one thing besides the spins, which is nice and helps him allude defenders. But he’s not very fast, not good enough offensively, not good enough defensively and makes a lot of mistakes.
I don’t get it, he was coming along nicely until that Vegas series and now he’s gone to shit
He was good and will get back to that, he needs time after that injury. Time and gamesGo rewatch that game. He was a big reason we dominated. That was the best he's ever looked. He was also good in game 2, but we did lose that one.
I'd like to say first that I agree on Manson. Nice conversation all around about him.Bottom pairing? Therefore EJ was going to be our 2nd line RD? I understand how people are freaking out to find creative way to squeeze a good 2C into our lineup, but re-signing Manson was and is NECESSARY for our cup hopes. At this stage, probably the most useful move is having Landy on LTIR until the end of the regular season. In that case there will be no issues squeezing in a Toews retained + JMFJ for a 1st + Ranta/Bowers/Kaut
Is that when it started? I just think he packed on more muscle and has lost his quickness.Girard was never the same after the Vegas series, that’s for sure.
He was earning Norris arguments from some of the most respected analytics guys around the league that season before being absolutely erased in the Vegas series. He's been a shell of himself ever since. Is that when it started? I just think he packed on more muscle and has lost his quickness.
Who would have been the RD behind Makar? Manson’s deal is actually pretty fair considering what FA d-men (who are worse) signed for.Manson played a not-insignificant part in the Cup win. And the Avs did not “win the Cup without Girard,” speaking of hate out of control. His name is on there too as well it should be.
I still remember MacK and Drouin play together. MacK set up Drouin with so many nice passes.Wonder if Drouin will finally be on the Avs next season. Sounds like the next reclamation project, we know the Avs love collecting those 2013 draft picks.
He’s in PTO territory, so I can see it.Wonder if Drouin will finally be on the Avs next season. Sounds like the next reclamation project, we know the Avs love collecting those 2013 draft picks.
I’ve mentioned that Ethan Bear was right there, signed to a low cap hit and could be had for a low draft pick. I get he’s not a big guy but he can skate and play in all three zones, and the Avs for a good long while there were doing just fine with a small, fast, skilled top four.Who would have been the RD behind Makar? If by that you mean choke in the 2nd round for years and years then sure.I’ve mentioned that Ethan Bear was right there, signed to a low cap hit and could be had for a low draft pick. You are missing the point. I have maintained the trade was worth it, not arguing that at all. The extension is what I’m questioning, and to be honest I’m not really upset about it. I actually like Manson, the argument was whether Kadri could have been retained, and he could have been had the Avs tried something else to fill out their defensive depth chart. If by that you mean choke in the 2nd round for years and years then sure.
It was iffy giving Kadri that contract in the first place. Chances are Kadri won't repeat the season he had last year and he's looking like he's back to that 60 ish points 2C already in Calgary. Not to mention he's already 32 and on the first year of a 7 years contract. You are missing the point. I have maintained the trade was worth it, not arguing that at all.
