Kadri gone now and we are fine..next will be Toews and we will be fineWhy would I do that when I want to read what people have to say about the cap crunch coming up?

Say we don't sign anyone else and we bank cap space until the deadline, can we use that "banked cap space" on a 2C and still have enough to pay bonuses at the end of the year?
It's impossible to know how their cap will be affected by injury callups, but I expect this to be the Avs approach.
Barring a trade falls in their lap, they'll juggle the cap all year with Mikko/JTC at 2C, going with 20 and maybe even 19 man rosters, making paper transaction to send guys down on off days, and then trade for a 2C at the deadline.
If they can get retention on that 2C and they didn't have too many injury callups, then they might be able to pull it off with minimal to no bonus overages the following year.
With a 21 man roster with Meyers and one of Sedlak/Blidh up with the Avs and Englund with the Eagles, they should have about $3.9M in cap space to start. So if they start $3.9M under the cap, and don't have too many injuries, they might be able to bank more cap space pretty quickly.
10.5 was always gonna to be a pretty hefty discount for Mack.Gotta believe MacK's definitely getting at least $10.5 AAV now...
That's a terrible deal. But Calgary kinda had to do it to justify the trade. If Weager walks this summer, this trade is still a win for FLA.
Tkachuk got 8 years at 9.5 million, better player, and 5 years younger (contract expires when he's 32).
Huberdeau contract takes him to 37, for 1 mill more/year .. woof
But I thought Calgary wasn’t gonna be able to re-sign him?!
Terrible trade for Florida.
Nah. You’re missing the biggest point. Calgary had a guy who didn’t want to be there. Florida gave up way too much for that.
Don’t really agree. Calgary got the better player hands down. Now obviously they don’t get him through his prime years like Florida which is a bit problematic, but there’s a pretty solid gulf between Hubs and what we’ve seen of Tkachuk so far. That's a terrible deal. I agree to disagree. Tkachuk is much harder to play against with similar offensive output. Tkachuk's plays style/fiestyness is much better suited for the playoffs than Huberdeau, and Florida's window is now.Don’t really agree. Calgary got the better player hands down. Yeah not a great trade for sure. Tkachuk should and will be a very good fit in Florida, but CGY got an absolute truckload for a guy who wasn’t coming back.Yup. Calgary got the better player and locked him up.
Terrible trade for Florida.
Meh I get it. It’s the same as signing Landy, Nuke, and eventually Mack long term. Doesn’t really matter about the backend of the contracts because the window will be closed than regardless.Trevling with the “I probably won’t be around for the last few years of it anyway” type contract
Gotta do it now to save some face
