I have said it before, but Scheifele is a giant f***ing nerd and should be avoided for this alone, never mind the fact he's an integral part of one of the worst locker rooms in the league over the past decade. You think that this team swapping Scheifele and Kadri would have been that detrimental? I'm not saying Scheifele's defense is good or anything but this team is very very good and even with Scheifele at 2C would dominate.

I mean considering how instrumental Kadri was during the run it's not hard to argue, but that's just playing into what-ifs. My point is you shouldn't have to insulate your #2C to feel comfortable about your top-6. It's easy to fawn over Scheifele on paper, but the most impactful thing he's done for his team in the playoffs lately is get suspended for a dirty, stupid hit. Like others have mentioned, if we're targeting anyone out of Winnipeg it should be PLD. He's much younger, under RFA control and, while not great defensively, he can at least hold his own and could still develop that side of his game. The only concern there is the eventual flight risk if he's dead-set on Montreal.

Yeah that’s not always the case, that’s how GMs end up with value contracts. In this case there’s no betting, if nuke stays exactly what he is now then 6.1 is more than fair and good.

What unproven potential are you referring to? Nuke has consistently been a great player. In a limited role with limited players. You put him on the top line there was a very real possibility he wins the con smythe. I trust sakic he’s been a genius and that vision won us a cup.
