The Avs haven’t acted like solving 2C is a priority. They signed other holes first, clearly didn’t give Kadri a market deal, haven’t made a bargain type signing move to shore up center and haven’t made a trade. They certainly could, but signs as of right now signal that they don’t really have urgency to fill that hole in the lineup.

Agreed. They were basically saying that Kadri could come back with an offer from another team and they'll see if they could match (it's obvious that they knew at that time that they wouldn't be able to match any serious offer).

They certainly could, but signs as of right now signal that they don’t really have urgency to fill that hole in the lineup.

Pacify the media...after a Cup win? Their FO is essentially pressure-free right now. They have their plan in place, whether that be to experiment with the internal options they have or to put out feelers for a trade. They clearly didn't believe there was a viable option via FA. And for that reason there's no need to rush anything. Focus on getting MacK re-upped then take it from there.
