Did that regression happen because of an injury or what. I admit I stopped paying attention to him when it was clear Mackinnon was the better player.

It is always hard to say with certainty. He's had a number of injuries especially bad ones with his hip and back. Those have taken away a good part of his game. So probably a factor of both. If his hip is finally fixed (been an issue for a few years now), he may have a rebound season. That said, he's on the wrong side of the aging curve and has the build up of issues... so I wouldn't be betting on it.

No options. We live with this for this season. Look to trade Georgiev next year, get a better goalie and make another run. For now keep that 1st for Bedard.
Yeah well who? That's what I'm asking. I'm fine if you don't like Georgiev, but really what were our options? At least with Georgiev we can make a farily low-risk bet and if it doesn't work then oh well. I'd rather do this than had re-signed Kuemper.

I would have gone after Samsonov for starters this offseason but if im being honest I would have tried making a trade for John Gibson.

I would rather have Georgiev than Samsonov, but that's an option I can accept. But I guess the Avs didn't it coming him not getting qualified, Sakic wanted to be ahead of the curve this time around, and with Georgiev he could at least ask Rantanen and Lehkonen what kind of a guy he is.

As for Gibson, I just don't think he was willing to move anyway and it would've cost a ton, especially retained.

Gonna miss Naz but happy he got paid (although still lower than expected).

My new phrase when anyone around here starts complaining about not re-signing Naz, MacK wanting a ton, Toews going to price us out or anything else similar is just going to be:

Heavy lies the Crown.

Pretty sure Gibson would be willing to move to Colorado. The cost would have been high sure but its not a position I like to nickel and dime on but thats just me.

Of all the goalies that moved this summer (excluding Talbot where the Wild wouldn't have moved him here), Campbell probably would have been the best option. Wouldn't have cost assets and 5x5 is reasonable for him. Samsonov and George are kinda in the same group. George cost more assets and a more expensive contract, but if Samsonov plays well, he will be more expensive next summer.

Prying Gibson out would have been my move. Finding a way for that, even if it was expensive.

Summer '27 is going to be true asshole clenching.

I've already kinda pencilled it in that Makar wants to play at home, at least that's what I've been led to believe in. It's unfortunate, but the important thing is that he's here now when our prime window is open and we have already won 1 SC. Plenty of time to get more if and when he walks away.

I think at this point we can rename Denver to Little Turku

Sounds like Kadri held out hope he could return until he couldnt wait anymore and chose the next cup champs in Calgary.

Dude has had 3 major surgeries in the last 2 years. He's finished IMO. That many times under the knife in such a short span for a guy who wasn't the best skater to begin with takes its toll.

Really Kuemper was Miska like 😰 during the playoffs, I was so terrified on every shot ! I still can’t believe how this team had to play at such a high Level just to cut the chances against
He was playing with an eye injury for part of it. But still, I'm happy with Georgiev and I think having him and Francouz for 5.4M total leaves more money to pay our elite players.

Like you said, he was awfullly insecure even before his eye injury. I thought Francouz was way more secure, although he was bad in a game. But he gave everthing he could, Bednar gave him the chance, well he won the SC, can’t complain 😂
