F*** off this guy is an RFA, too? What the hell is he going to ask for to be a starter?

Better not be anything over 3M, which is more than what we paid Kuemper last season.
I'm sure that part has already been worked out before they made the trade.

Grubs walking last year really led to a total purge of draft picks for us...
Yup... which was my biggest argument for biting the bullet with him last year. The contract wouldn't be great, but the assets could have been used elsewhere to build cheaper depth elsewhere in the lineup. In the end though, we won the Cup and that is all that really matters.

Had his worst save % of his career this past season at .898 but had his best W/L record at 15-10. Will be one of smaller goaltenders. Will be a tandem goalie situation again with Georgiev and Frankie.

If his QO is 2.65 million then I suspect he comes in at about 3 to 3.5 million per on TBD years? If that is the case and keeping Kuemper was going to cost 6 million I'd rather get younger and save the 2.5-3 million. That pays for most of Nuke, I suspect, assuming that is the goal/hope.

If that's the case I'm all for it.

If Joe can build as strong a team as last season the Avs can win with Georgiev/Francouz.
Yeah this really isn't bad at all. I'm not Georgiev's biggest fan, but he has talent and at worst he's a good backup. At best, he's a 1A sort of goalie where he needs Frank to step in from time to time for stretches.

HF Avs: Anyone but Kuemper!!! We would have won the cup with anyone in net!!! He must be cheap too!!

Sakic: *trades for Georgiev*

Time to trade the last picks the Avs have at the draft and then the guys can go back to partying. Why are they even at the draft now, lol.

The price of letting Grubauer go:

1st
3 3rds
5th
Timmins

But yeah, they got a cup so who cares. Might not have been able to add Manson without the $2.5m savings in met either btw..

Joe is embracing the great team/average goaltending approach with absolute zest.

If he’s going cheap on the goaltending AAV, it’s because I think it’s a clear sign he needs as much cap space as possible.

I much prefer this scenario where we build a team and still have our 1st in the next draft as bait vs what happened last season having to use our 1st before the season started.

This way, if you really need it, you can go out and get a need with that 1st near the deadline.

Hope that Joe turns around and flips the rights to Darcy somewhere. Even if it’s the oilers, but ideally send him out east somewhere and try keep him away from the oilers.

Might not have needed Manson with Timmy... but more likely Murray wouldn't have been signed than anything.
