No he's not a lateral move at worst. At worst he's a significantly worse goalie than Kuemper.

I really don't think MAF is worse than Kuemper... both are below average starters.

I think the Avs win the Cup with Smith. He was basically good for the same give up a softie or two a game as Kuemper and if the goalie only gave up one sofite, the Avs typically won.
 
The guy that nobody talks about that I wouldn't mind a flyer on is Nedeljlkovic... he's not great, but he's not terrible either. Dirt cheap. One year commitment, but could be re-signed if he does well. And on top of all of this, he's young.

The Avs really need to identify and find a guy that is positionally sound and can make the saves he should. Maybe not necessarily a goalie that can steal you games, but a goalie that just gives you consistency. What I would do for a prime JS Giguere, feel like he would be the perfect goalie for this edition of the Avs.

At that price, I'd rather either get a guy that solves to position or just go super cheap and tandem the net. Maybe make a move to shore it up at the deadline if it looks shakey in January.

It's probably peanuts and no retention. Certainly not their first rounder

The rumor yesterday was Murray (no retention) + 7OA for Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak

I thought it made sense for both teams.

Your opinion ignores the statistical numbers of Kuemper being the worst Cup winning goalie since Grant Fuhr in 1988. I find it hard to argue Fleury would be worse.

I think the Avs win with any goalie in net last season that is capable of providing .890
