I think Giroux will sign with Ottawa (1 year deal) and knows he will be traded at the deadline.

Honestly I think McDonagh is overrated at this point.

He was really good, but I thought this year he looked noticeably worse and especially in the playoffs and the finals against us I thought he was flat out a liability. Careless penalties and skating was a legit issue for him.

Kind of shocked Tampa was able to move that contract so easily... It should be a red flag for Nashville that Tampa so quickly after the playoffs ended were making a point to try and get rid of McDonagh but I guess not. Have a feeling Nashville is going to come to regret this deal.

Good move for TB. They know they have a finite window with this group and it’s only going to get shorter/smaller. I think they weakened themselves on the backend, but they’re still going to be a force upfront

Yea WTF is Poile trying to do with his team?

I swear this guy is the worst GM in the league but no one is paying attention.

Overrated GM for sure. I used to think he is amazing but last couple of years have really changed my mind.

Guess Poile believes that McDonagh is what he was two years ago. And that's a mistake.

I’m still shocked that McDonagh waived his NTC. Based off the return he didn’t give JBB many other options, but you’d have to think staying in Tampa would’ve been his preference unless he’s tired of making deep runs.

Some nice cap gymnastics from Tampa, per usual. It's gonna be fascinating to see what the first few moves are that Sakic makes. Not often does a team win a Cup then get $26mill to work with.

Not only Tampa didn't take money back in exchange for Nashville to take the upcoming bad years of McDonagh's contract but they also got cap credit. I'd say they did pretty damn well!!!
