Gaudreau turning down (or not yet accepting) $9.5M/yr is wild to me. If he can get more then good for him but damn. With everything on the line, I'd take Nichushkin over him in a playoff game and he might get almost twice as much on the open market.
Yep, it's that time of the year when GM's lose their mind and money seems fake. Then in 3 months they wake up saying "what the heck did I do?"

It's like they don't look at the player they are paying compared to others. Johnny G is a good player. Not a great player. Not a franchise player. So why is he being paid like one? More than Makar? More than what 96% of the forwards in the league? Joke

Thank God for Sakic and him being able to keep his head straight and walk away from some of these contracts.

So we traded with NYR for our new goaltender and now Washington is going to us for goaltending help?

Ok who broke the space time continuum?

My best hunches/predictions for the Avs are as follows:

I'm pretty convinced that at least one of these three guys is going to be an Av on free agent day:

Evan Rodrigues
Mason Marchment
Ilya Mikheyev

And then depending on the Helm/Sturm/NAK situations, at least one of these 3 guys will be an Av as well

Zach Aston-Reese
Tyler Motte
Dominik Simon

On D we will have one of these guys if Manson walks:

Jan Rutta
Colin Miller
Brett Kulak

And one of these 3 as depth guys if JJ and Murray walk:

Colton White
Sebastian Aho
Thomas Hickey

My ideal would be

Landy-MacK-Nuke
Lehky-Rodrigues-Rants
Newhook-Meyers-Simon
Cogs-JTC-LOC
Dermy

Toews-Makar
Byram-Rutta
Girard-EJ
White

JTC can and will be sent away if Cap space becomes an issue.

Palat going to UFA is both intriguing and scary to me.

On the one hand I'd love to get Palat here... On the other hand, Tampa didn't fre up that cap space for nothing and now I fear they become major players for Nichushkin and I bet they get him if we don't. Kuch and Vasi will have big sway.
Nah. If they don't have the cash for Palat they definitely don't have the cash for Nuke. Also a very expensive 2023 summer for them.

GM's that try to win the off-season usually don't last long.

Come on, man. Let’s stop acting like these other teams are the boogeyman. All last offseason it was after every actual/potential Vegas move and now Tampa.

We’re the MF’in boogeyman and the team to beat! 😤

(Did I use that emoji correctly?)
