Love the Dubinsky compario. I see that with more finish, and O zone craftiness.

I think he will put of more points in his first full season with the NYRs than Laf did.

Fans perspective. Take if for what it is. I'm a fan of this guy. Not a Laf guy. I see the skill of most NHL 3rd liners.

Nothing more.

Othmann has that will and edge in his games that gets the team into the fight and if they some decide not too, then im sure he will let them know about it. Need a bit of cockiness in the locker room, players usually play better with that in the locker room. Sean Avery also had that effect with the Rangers

On Laf he has made some nice passes but scoring goals and outmuscle opponents along the boards he is awful. he is not that good. Maybe they should try him at center. He has playmaking skills. I just don’t see any skill when he plays LW.

i think there's a very good chance he has more points than laf did in his first full season but a big part of that is he'll be at least 2 years post draft from where laf entered. i like a lot of what othmann brings though, he could be a very good 50-60 point guy who can score 30 and bring some edge to the team.

i am a laf guy though, to each their own, but i think he's got a ton of game in him. needs to commit himself fully this summer in the gym, on ice explosiveness work, and diet. you don't destroy the world juniors in your draft year the way he did if you can't play. it'll come. he's got things to improve on, but if we get him with a coach that he really responds to and puts him in positions he thrives in, it'll happen sooner than later. i'm far from a gallant hater and was never calling for laf to just be on the 1st line...i think you should earn it. but i don't think his style in how he communicates with players ever resonated, nor did his lack of x's and o's ability offensively help, and i don't think he at all had the right idea in mind for the player laf is. he wanted laf to be like kreider and they are nothing alike...laf is best with the puck on his stick distributing. like putting him netfront on the pp was just not him. if he's used to his talents with a better system, and he may actually be better suited to center than wing, i think we'll see a very different player.

I believe deep in all the NYR prospects.
and Happy for him, to get some Back Aces time w Cats.
But during his seasons postdraft, til rights expiry, Calle Sjalin was a parttime, unexceptional prospect.
Just me, but i am way way more questionning of not signing Grubbe...

doesn't that one seem a lot less about the rangers not signing and more about his not having interest in signing? the fact he was made available around the league seems like an acknowledgement the rangers view him as a player. maybe a western boy doesn't want to be in nyc, maybe he doesn't like the depth chart, maybe there was some interaction that turned him off to the idea...could be anything really. regardless of the why, it looks a lot more like it was his decision and not the rangers. not gonna hold this one against them. which is fine because there's already too many other stupid decisions, with more surely to come, to worry about.

The Rangers have all but announced they won't be signing Grubbe, has there been any word on Leevi Altonen? I see he hasn't had much production in Liiga, is 22 and small (5'9). Doesn't seem like a Drury kind of player. Per CapFriendly, his rights expire in June.

I haven't heard anything at all about him, basically ever. He's been on the fringes of a Liiga roster for several years now and his production has been remarkably consistent (7-10 points). He seems like an enormous long shot for a contract at this point.

Looks like they removed an assist, only has 2 now.
Yeah, they originally gave the 2nd assist to Othmann on the 4th goal, but watching the replay it was clearly Gavin White.

Othmann's 1st assist came off a good defensive play in the neutral zone, while his 2nd was on a 5-3 PP.

i loved that 1st assist...made 3 really smart plays in about half a second and made it look easy. pigeon tossed the guy in his face back into the puck carrier, found the loose puck and pushed it up ice while sidestepping a dman, then joined the 3 on 1.

hell of a shot his teammate on that play...rang the doorbell with an absolute seed

Big win by Peterborough 6-5 in OT

Othmann scored a goal to give Peterborough a 4-3 lead

i'm sure he'll some dumb penalties at times, but he's gonna be awesome at knowing who to target and how to get in their head / take them out of games. that's a valuable ability.

he knew exactly who that was and that he'd cry about it. that shot and burying it right off of that play is perfection.
