1st round not so much which is a problem

Honestly, prior to 2017, they weren't even that bad in the first round either if you account for where they picked.

It's easy to go "Well, they never draft stars in the NHL" when they don't draft top-3 for half a century.

Kreider at 19
Miller at 15
Skjei at 28
Del Zotto at 20
Staal at 12

Is it perfect? No. But it's far from the disaster we sometimes make it out to be.

The issue with our org is that, the higher they draft, the worse the returns are. THAT is a huge issue they still haven't been able to solve.

Add Chytil, Miller and Schneider to the list of great picks at their respective spots. Lias and Vitali were mistakes but there hardly seems any “stars” that the Rangers passed on - just serviceable NHLer (which is regrettable but not devastating especially since the organization was able to “recover” Cuylle out of one when Gorton chose to act whereas Drury decided to wait). Lafreniere and Kakko were consensus picks so even if one has concerns (I haven’t) it is not about drafting but about development.

Grubbe, Barbashev teams win game 1's
Othmann, Korczak teams were tied in 3rd but fell to home teams

Peterborough won this afternoon to tie up their series with Ottawa. 2-1.

Othmann scored the first goal of the game for the Petes.

so basically tage thompson but taller and way faster
A bigger, faster, smarter, tougher, more skilled version of Tage Thompson. That’s the bar set :)

I like how he sets up to shoot rather than simply going to the net. Gives himself more room. Not necessarily the best plan for every player. But for him, that works great.

he's def an intriguing prospect...its not the move or goal its the way he opened up, took the pass, and in basically one fluid motion accelerated with a crossover, took one stride was at full speed. humans that size usually can't move like that...if he skates like that consistently he could be a monster in the bottom 6 one day. would be a matchup nightmare for top c's and a bulldozer on the forecheck.

with othmann i like that that puck is on and off his stick so quickly. allows receiving the pass to bring the puck into shooting position and fires. most of the current rangers woulda dusted that puck off which allowed the goalie to get over while their momentum took them to a bad angle. then probably tried a pass that got deflected away anyway.

Edstrom is probably one of the few guys I would try to keep out of any deal just due to his bizarre profile. He's such a unicorn of a prospect that moving him at any point, I think, would be foolish.

No clue if he will be a NHLer, but he's been an incredibly fun prospect to follow.
Agreed 100%!

Spoke to Adam Edström today and I asked him about the spelling of his name on the jersey. If he requested it.

Turns out it was done by the Wolf Pack without having to ask for it.

That is a huge win! That's a big step forward.

It may not mean much to some fans, but I think taking the time and effort to properly spell player names makes a huge difference. The Leafs Marlies have been doing it for years now.

I just hope the Rangers follow this example for guys like Halák, Hájek and if they ever make the team, for Edström, Väisänen, Chmelař, and Sýkora.

This is literally sad that it hasn't been done for years this way...

What about non-Romanized languages? That's where I get into the weeds a little bit

Cyrillic or Greek letters would be amazing to see, at the very least on a heritage night or something. I know the Panthers did something similar to celebrate a milestone for Bobrovsky. I don't expect that to ever become the standard

That said, I will go to war to get the NHL to properly convert letters from Cyrillic to Latin, and get Shestyorkin's name on his jersey the right way LOL

But for now, I will settle for teams getting diacritics right for players.
