Bedard sprung Othmann with a sick saucer for a breakaway – rolled off his stick in tight

am I reading that correctly? 10 goals for Canada and no Othmann points? shades of laf and Kakko there
He was in front of the net to the left of the goalie on the PP looking to pick up rebounds, but all of Canada's shots from the circles beat Germany's goalie straight up lol...

Adam Edstrom sits at 3-5-8 in 20 games. His previous full-season SHL totals:

4-5-9 in 46
3-7-10 in 43
7-2-9 in 43

He also has 6-4-10 in 24 playoff games, showing his clutchness. Anyway, he's picking it up and having a nice season, which is good to see. He has a good pair of hands on him and isn't just a bull in a china shop, so I'm happy to see a little production.

Last night he had a good game here in Göteborg. Attending the game (Mostly for Lundqvist tribute night), I was able to focus a bit on him and Tärnström and liked what I saw. Unfortunately Edström was hit into the boards face first, and was slow to get up. Nicklas Lasu was handed a 2-game suspension because of it. Man, the arena errupted when the refs called a 5-minute major on Lasu.

Edström was okay after a few minutes and finished the game. Really strong on the puck and he was the reason Rögle had some sustained pressure late keeping the puck in the zone on 2 occasions.

I think Edström is very much like Chmelař in the sense that his style is better suited for the tight NA hockey, as @nyr2k2 pointed out a few times. Looking forward to seeing him in the AHL next season. The IIHF transfer agreement is the reason he's ineligible this season to play in Hartford unfortunately so we won't see a mid-season transfer like we saw with Lias Andersson in 2018.

Thanks for sharing
any impressions worth sharing re Tarnstrom?

Skated really well actually. Created some scoring chances. Had a big chance to score early in the 1st but was robbed by Johansson. He's been a bit underwhelming considering where he was drafted. He hasn't really made the steps in his development you want to see after 2-3 years.

The little I've seen of Tarnstrom in the SHL, he doesn't play very much and accordingly you don't see too much from him. He does skate well and he moves the puck around pretty well, but he really struggles getting the puck on frame and is also pretty weak. He's going to need to get a LOT stronger before he's able to make even a minimal impact in NA because right now he gets pushed around out there.

He's a lot like Henriksson in that there are some good tools there but also some real knocks on his game.

I rather Rangers reach for injury prone players than knocks in his game that he can’t fix. Are these fixable?

Doesn't seem like he's ever going to be a strong, physical player, and honestly I'm not sure he plays fast enough (mentally) to compensate for it, but who knows. IMO he doesn't really have any standout skills, which is why I wasn't enamored with the pick from day one.

What's going on with Robertson lately?

I feel like I don't see his name enough in conversation here, so is he trade bait? Underwhelming?

Kid did everything you could ask in Jr.

Seemed like a lock for 6LD with room to grow. Feels like we drafted him a decade ago.

I would have thought he would get a look by now. Maybe before the all star break he gets a game or 2

I think Robertson is trying to do too much and it's creating problems for him at both ends. I've always been a big cheerleader for him but I've been underwhelmed this season. At this point I'd say Emberson has outplayed him and even Brandon Scanlin isn't too far off. Plenty of time for Robertson to get back on track, but he really needs to simplify his game and focus on the defensive side of things.

In a separate thread I said he should be emulating Marc Staal but he looks more like he wants to be Michael Del Zotto.

I always figured he'd get overlooked for lack of offense and sort of force his way in the first season where he's waiver eligible, much like Sauer did.

Still, given we have Harpur playing at LD, I hope he gets a cup of coffee at least soon.

Also to 2k2's point- Emberson may have been an afterthought trade but he's got a decent chance of becoming a bottom pairing guy too IMO. I enjoyed him at Wisconsin though haven't seen him as a pro much.
