My contrarian opinion: if you really believe in Othmann and Sykora to be impact NHLer's, you dont rush them to NHL
Zero downside for guys that young to play full AHL season(s)
No good reason to push them too fast too soon

God point but we also have like 2 more years where ZIbby + Panarin are in their prime and Igor is cheap.

Sykora won't be ready next season. I think he's 2, likely 3 years away from the NHL truthfully.
I'm starting to think we need to keep BOTH our first round picks and add two forwards to the system for when Panarin is gone and Zibby starts to declines. Hopefully we can still have a good team around Fox, Shesterkin, Miller, and some of Othmann, Laf, Kaako, Chytil.

I think we should keep both too.. but i think the lower of the picks need to be a dman. We are barren there at the lower levels.

It all depends who is on the board at the time. But if wealk away with a good C and Dman from the first round i will be happy.

Also need RW help and to take a goalie in like the 4 /5

7 points in his last two games. Ty Voit of Sarnia leading the OHL in points.

Think that might've been a missed opportunity for the Rangers in that 2021 draft. There were a number of OHL guys who didn't get to play that year who probably would've went higher had they played. Luckily for Wyatt Johnston he got to play in the WJC, Dallas was willing to take a big gamble on him at 23 and looks like it was worth it. Ryan Winterton, Ty Voit, Connor Lockhart, off the top of my head were a few guys on the radar that year. I believe there's more but Tucker Robertson was taken last draft as overager, who knows where he goes had there been an OHL season the year prior. Not to say any of those guys are future NHLers but in terms of value they probably went a lot lower then where they probably would have. Toronto has to be happy with Voit in the 5th. Fast forward, we still walked away with one of the better prospects in the draft but those late picks would've been icing on the cake

I'd even keep Sykora in Europe for another year given his smaller frame - in order to continue gaining physical strength before getting exposed to NA hockey. It's not like the Rangers won't have options to move along development hierarchy - who're older and therefore be more prepared in this aspect.

He was practically the youngest player taken in the last draft and he is undersized. That he's playing in the top Slovakian league the last couple years and doing okay is a good sign but I also think he will need more time before he's ready for the AHL or NHL.

Exactly. You take this kind of a kid in the second knowing you have a lot of development runway compared to his peers in that draft class. He absolutely plays a game that will translate well to the NHL, but it's important not to give these kinds of kids more than they can handle, developmentally. Otherwise, they just learn to use the skills that they currently have to keep their head above water, and true development stalls. We have the luxury of giving these kids time to develop new skills and hone existing ones. We should use it.

Barbashev another assist. I wonder if he will be as good as his brother if not better. I really think this will be a steal of the draft. He plays a similar game to his brother but not sure if he ever played center.

McConell-Barker is interesting because from what I can see the Soo Greyhounds this year are not that good offensively and he still has a decent lead over the rest of his team currently. I wonder if he gets traded how his production would increase.
