I'm not sold on this whatsoever. He'll started the season in Laval, I'd assume.

But I 100% expect him to go back to Europe rather than play in the OHL. I could obviously be wrong, but I don't see it. He's played against men for two seasons - he's probably not interested in playing against a league where half the players could never even suit up in Slovakia.
I also agree. A or Europe

Schueneman called up to Montreal as Matheson is placed on IR.

So Laval's D tomorrow should be: Barron, Norlinder, Leskinen, Fairbrother, Dello, Bowey & Green.

Barron, Dello, Bowey & Green are all RDs.
Norlinder, Leskinen & Fairbrother are all LDs.
No Fairbrother anymore for the season. Trudeau should be tried.

That doesn’t look like a roster of a farm team intent on developing players with NHL upside…

RHP didn't start in the Top-6. He worked his way to the top line.
Ylonen didn't start in the Top-6. He worked his way to the top line.

Evans started at 4C in Laval and ended up as their 1C by the end of his first year.
Suzuki started on the wing of the 4th line and worked his way up to be the 1C.

Primeau didn't start as the #1 goalie. He was alternating with Lindgren in his rookie year. He is now the clear cut #1.

Fans need to stop expecting all the prospects to start on the top lines. Part of the development is starting lower and working your way up. Even if you're a 1st or 2nd round pick like Mesar and Mysak are, respectively.

Laval has 5 prospects in the line-up at forward. They'll have another 3 on D (Barron, Norlinder & Leskinen). And they'll have Primeau in nets. That's 9 prospects in the line-up.

For a rebuilding team, the AHL lineup is pretty prospect light. Hopefully Slafkovsky and Xhekaj get added to that lineup in the coming weeks. I want to see both these guys try to show they belong in the NHL this season.

Slafkovsky-Stephens-Ylonen
Simoneau-Mysak-RHP
Teasdale-Schnarr-Belzile
Richard-Gignac-Martel
Saulnier - Condotta-Bourque

Xhekaj - Bowey
Leskinen - Barron
Norlinder - Green
Trudeau - Dello

Stephens already served one game. He will serve his second game of suspension tomorrow. So he should be back on Friday.

RHP, Ylonen, Simoneau, Mysak, Teasdale, Norlinder, Barron, Trudeau, Leskinen & Primeau.

That's 10 prospects. It's not light.

But if you consider that a bunch of prospects are also in the NHL, you realize how many prospects there are for a rebuilding organization.

You have Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle, Harris & Xhekaj with the big club.

That's a total of 16 prospects in the pros. And you also have Fairbrother who is unfortunately out for the year.

I guess should say I want more tier 1 guys:
Tier 1: Ylonen, Mysak, Barron, Primeau (add Slafkovsky/Xhekaj)
Tier 2: Simoneau, RHP, Norlinder (dropped him down)
Tier 3/4: Leskinen/Teasdale/Trudeau/Fairbrother/Condotta/Hillis/etc

Maybe a better description is a prospect that we can have some hope to replicate same production at NHL level. When I look at the Jets/Sabres/Devils/etc farm team, seems lot of their top guys are their tier 1 players.

Suzuki is no longer on his ELC, and I don't consider the captain a "prospect", though he is still 23 yo.

I feel bad for Abbandonato, the guy did quite well for himself last season and he's just hurt bad by the numbers game on our roster . In a perfect world he should be getting a top 9 opportunity in the AHL somewhere at this point.

I agree. I really liked Abbandonato in Laval last year. And he was pretty much having his way in the ECHL with 3R.

I imagine at some point, someone will get traded, even if it's an AHL deal. Because when you look at Laval and 3R, there is a whole lot of depth. But at the same time, maybe they'd rather roll with things this way because they know call ups and injuries will occur, and that is when the depth becomes an advantage.
