Laval will practice on the second ice sheet because Disney on Ice is using the main rink. Wednesday and Thursday, there will be Red vs. White scrimmages. And this weekend, Laval plays two preseason games vs. the Belleville on Saturday and Sunday.
Houle says the coaching staff will select the captain. Marcotte mentions that for him, it should be Bourque.
Houle said they will be a younger team this year, but he feels they will be more competitive than last year. Marcotte gets the sense Houle is curious to know who among the young D will be sent to him in Laval.
Houle praises Emile Poirier. He says it's good to offer a second chance to a guy like that and that he seems ready for the challenge. He could be the ace in the hole.
Éric Bélanger, Pascal Rhéaume & MA Bergeron will be with the Laval Rocket all camp and will provide their observations. It feels like the partnership between the affiliates will be even stronger this year.
Regarding Trudeau and Tourigny. It will be interesting what the organization decides with them. They can both go back to Junior for their overage season. It wouldn't be surprising is one of them turns pro and starts in 3R.
You can expect Bourque to actually be on the ice all season, that's already a plus in his favor IMO That and he had a decent cup of coffee in the NHL ( 400+ games I believe) so he has seniority there, he's been around the block .Belzile is my choice because of his tenure with Laval and the organization. This will be his fourth year with the Habs/Rocket.
But if they give it to Bourque, I'll be happy and know he deserves it. A guy with a lot of experience in both NHL and AHL and gives it his all every game.
Mentioned in the Training Camp thread, but yesterday, the Habs sent down:
- Mesar
- Norlinder
- Poulin
- Simoneau
- Gignac
And placed on waivers:
- Belzile
- Richard
- Stephens
If they all clear today, they will be sent to Laval.
