I heard that Hughes has signed him to an AHL deal for the 2023/2024 season.

Was a free agent from NCAA drafted by Ottawa in 2018 I think 188ov.

Does anyone have any type of scoop on him or link to the official signing.

Saw he was signed to Laval on the main boards.

Figured I'd post this here:

Given how logjammed Laval is up front, I was reading an article about the Sabres and they had one of their prospects (Kisakov) not play every game in the AHL so he could focus on putting on some weight. How would you guys feel if this was done with a guy like Kidney (there could be others; haven't checked) who badly needs to put on weight if he wants to make the NHL? I find the strategy has merit, especially for players who's hockey sense is not something you're worried about.

I mean, he also had only 8 point in 48 games (14th in points for forwards) so seems like he was struggling.

If Petry, De Smith, Pezetta stay in Montreal, Ylonen will play in Laval. The management has decided that Mesar will play in Laval. Kidney is a more important prospect than Davidson. Yarenko will start in Trois Rivieres. McKay can be in Laval. Don't think Farell is ready for the NHL. The Habs wasted too many prospects by letting them play in the NHL too early so letting them develop in Laval is the best solution.
Farrell "finally" signed a contract with Habs because he was promised to start at NHL level after his last College season . Hopefully the kid will understand that he needs some time at AHL level to learn more about pro hockey.

3R Lions signed a Swedish D for next season. The Swedish site mentions it’s a 2-way contract.

Former CBJ 4th rounder, 6’4 200, it seems the organisational remedy for having small forwards is a big D-core
He's 6'1" according to hockeydb.com

I prefer to use hockeydb myself but often for prospects or non-NHL players the height / weight info is outdated. On Elite Prospects he’s listed at 6’5 207.

Adam Engstrom is another example (6’0 168 on db vs 6’2 190 on EP).

I might be missing something, but to me EP is superior in every way compared to HDB for player stats.

It does have arena attendance and I prefer their draft db though.

(for me) simpler/faster page layout on mobile (with an ad blocker), when I just want to get basic stats. For NHLers the size/weight is usually ok.

Can you see the evolution of a player's look by clicking on their picture on EP though? HDB has that going got them

That is true, HDB is better on mobile. Forgot it since I mostly argue hockey on computer.

We are really looking at a logjam between the pipes for the Rocket as we have 4 goalies for 2 spots.

Assuming Monty/Allen are in the NHL, we have:
-Primeau
-DeSmith
-Dobes
-Mann

Hughes might be able to move one but I doubt is able to move 2 meaning Dobes will probably start in 3R.

Hughes already said he told DeSmith they won't send him to Laval.

Ridiculous, if true. He has to STOP doing that!!!!

What would be fair is to say "I won't just buryyou in Laval, you will have every chance to earn a spot ihn Montreal, but no guarantees."

Who gives guarantees to a guy who lost his job as backup in PIOT?

I didn't have the exact quote at the time but here's what he said,

“I told Casey to be patient. The goal is not to bury you in the American Hockey League,” Hughes said. “We will continue to look at possible trades or to make some changes. But it’ll take patience with the goalie market, it’s always slow.”

Quite the opposite.

It's a very positive sign that the new leadership group treats the players as human beings.
The "if you want loyalty, buy a dog" mentality was toxic and hurt the org on & off the ice.

There was no guarantee made, only a commitment to be mindful of the player's situation and accomodate it if possible. That's a good way to run a team in any environment.

In the case of DeSmith, if he clears waivers to be sent to Laval, he'll understand that nobody wanted him, even for free.
