Quite the opposite.

It's a very positive sign that the new leadership group treats the players as human beings.
The "if you want loyalty, buy a dog" mentality was toxic and hurt the org on & off the ice.

There was no guarantee made, only a commitment to be mindful of the player's situation and accomodate it if possible. That's a good way to run a team in any environment.
I wasn't suggesting a demeaning approach. Nothing wrong with thelling the new guy that he will get every fair chance to make the team and not just get buried unthinkingly.

To bury a contract in the AHL means to send a player down who makes more than $1,150,000 and therefore come of his cap remains on the big club.

Hughes told the media that he informed deSmith that he would not get buried in the AHL. That's pretty plain.

That is a commitment to either keep him in Montreal or trade him. It is not what you claim was said. What you claim Hughes said is what I wanted him to have ACTUALLY said. But he didn't. Instead he made another foolish promise. And he made this second commitment not to a player who is an established NHL veteran with a big contract and a solid reputation, but to a hanger-on who lost his job as Pittsburgh's backup goalie and who PIT could not trade when they tried.

“I told Casey to be patient. The goal is not to bury you in the American Hockey League,” Hughes said. “We will continue to look at possible trades or to make some changes. But it’ll take patience with the goalie market, it’s always slow.”

Doesn't sound like a guarantee to me. Was there another statement that you are referring to?

Thanks for this.

I know this is a projection and a damn good one, but Mesar on the 4th line is a real bummer.

I think you’re right though. Not taking issue with your post but the fact that he’s gonna be buried in Laval. Should’ve kept him in junior. Gentlemen’s agreement or not. Didn’t do enough in junior

I dont think Ylonen or Primeau clear waivers. I think Ylonen starts the year on the Habs roster. I think Primeau is moved or is claimed.

Farrell - Andersson - Heineman (I just like this line combination if Hein can play RW)
Condotta - Maillet - Roy
Simoneau - Stephens - Lagare
Mysak - Kidney - (Someone we sign or trade for)
Bourque/McKay

Trudeau - Mailloux
Beaudin - Keeper
Struble - Tourigny
Bisson - Wideman
(Rotate those last 3 rights)

Also who knows. This is just how I think it could POSSIBLY lay out, and I like those lines. Itll be a fun year to watch in Laval though! WOO

EDIT:
Did I forget Davidson? Do we know for sure what hes doing this year?

On the 4th line, I would put Bourque at RW instead of having him as an extra and keep that spot for someone they sign or trade for. A vet like him would be great for the 4th line, especially if he's with two kids like Mysak and Kidney.

Regardless of anything, I agree with you when you say this will be a fun year. A lot of the prospects who were at Junior or college are now all turning pro simultaneously in bunches in back-to-back-to-back years. And we'll finally get to see if these kids have what it takes to be pros.

Yup I definitely dont disagree. I was more so saying that I think there will be a pro tryout vet that could possibly go there. If they go the route of shipping out guys like Armia/Primeau/DeSmith they'll have roster spots to fill. But dont mind him there at all!

Condotta played center last year. I think Davidson will start the year in Trois Rivieres unless he surprises in training camp..Wideman will surely play higher up the lineup. You Forgot Gignac and Mesar

Who would claim Primeau? They need to play him in the NHL or we would just claim him back.

No: TML, COL, VGK, FLO, WAS, NYI, EDM, DAL, CGY, PIT, NYR, LAK, STL, BOS, CAR, SEA, MIN, WIN, NJ, PHI, ARI, SJ, CBJ, DET, NAS, BUF, CHI, ANA, VAN, OTT

Maybe?:
TB if they really don't trust Johanson, but then they would probably try to deal for De Smith or some other journeyman instead.

OTT if Murray is LTIR and they don't trust Mandolese or Soogard. Even then, probably would go for a journeyman instead.
Murray is in Toronto, no? I believe the backup is Forsberg now

I'm 240 clicks from Toronto and I just passed the Laval Rocket bus. Didn't realize things had started up.

They haven't yet as far as I know, they might charter it out in the offseason or something for extra revenue.
