Who the f*** said we’re contenders? We’re not even in the playoffs. I don’t want Kyrou to be our best player, but currently he is our top scoring threat. I’ll give you that Buch is the better overall player, but if we need a goal he is the one most likely to make that happen. Telling him he’s playing like he’s in junior while he’s put up back to back 70+ point campaigns is moronic. We’re going to have a team full of “hard workers”(as if carrying the team offensively is not hard work) and never score any goals. Sweet, we’ll be like the Islanders if they didn’t have Sorokin. That’s quite a competitive team.
We should be building towards that, that was my point. If you want to pretend that Kyrou is our best player or that negatives in his game can't outweigh the positives at times, then I'm going to pushback, and it seems you sort of walk back what your original claim was, so that's fine with me.

If Kyrou doesn't impove his overall game, we'll be in trouble long-term. We don't need him to be Mark Stone in terms of 2-way ability, but he needs to be more like Tarasenko in his prime here. He can't be that 1-dimensional scorer and just point to his points for why he isn't doing the things necessary for a team to be successful.

I'm obviously not talking about individuals deciding individually what they will do, I am talking about the official charities that are cited all season in return for advertising. I knew someone would confuse the two things in their mind and scream at me to leave, and it's no surprise whatsoever that it's you.

Yes you did. You stated that you believe that people associated with this organization wouldn’t do any charity work without the PR/tax benefits.

I am calling you out on it. And you have two examples that would shoot holes in that statement. I would also simply point out again, that you don't know all of the people associated with the organization and don't have any means of judging what they do or don't do.

As for the Russian thing, I fully expect that most citizens will support their country. (We do it here). Hell, even in the USA, the early parts of the Vietnam war were supported by our many Americans.

Do you have any quoted you want to share from Tarasenko about him supporting the invasion of Ukraine? I will wait. An no, I don't feel he needs to make any kind of public statement one way or the other (especially if he has family still in that country).

Finally, you state the Blues support the Russian and only want guns on the ice. All this and golf.

If you believe that, then you are giving money to an organization that doesn't USES kids with cancer for their own benefit, promotes war, sides with Russia, and only cares about guns and golf.

All you had to do after your initial post was admit you didn't read the article. That is it. Instead, you double down, because you have never admitted a mistake or that you are wrong.

The negatives in his game absolutely do not outweigh the positives. Not even remotely close. If that were the case he wouldn't even be in the NHL, much less the number one scoring threat on an NHL team.

I just find it ridiculous that of all of the things that are horribly wrong with this team, Kyrou's defense seems to be the hot talking point. Not Binnington getting progressively worse every single year, a complete dearth of Dmen, especially left handed Dmen, in the organization, coaching staff that seems to have no answers to the defensive breakdowns that happen every single game with every line on the ice(not just Kyrou's) etc. It's Kyrou's defenciencies. Maybe ask Thomas to shoot the f***ing puck once in a while, or Parayko to try skating the puck out of the zone, Buchnevich to condition himself so he can play a full season for once etc. etc.

It's just going to end up being a Phil Kessel situation where he becomes the scapegoat, run out of town for nothing, and then becomes an instrumental part of a couple of Cups with a competent organization.

A handful of fans on a message board ain’t gonna sway army. Dizee ain’t gonna run Kyrou out of town.

I moved this post to a more appropriate thread.

I think Vrana will guide any extension talk with his play and (hopeful) professionalism. As long as Vrana reinforces our initial thoughts about him and produces next season while “being a good boy”, then I would have no problem if DA offered him a two-year contract that is sort of a prove-it type deal.

I know prove-it deals are usually only one year, but I’d have to imagine that any offer would be short-term. Also, let’s keep in mind that Detroit is retaining half of his cap/salary/whatever, so we wouldn’t need to offer a large dollar amount.

Or am I not considering something and this does that not make any sense?

As far as Kapanen, I’m torn and lean towards letting his contract play out or trade him at the 2024 TDL, if he has value.

He scored at a decent rate in his short time with us, but I get a strong feeling that he is relying on his very good hockey skills and not working hard enough and maintaining his body. He seems to me to be one of those athletes who has all the talent and taking it for granted.

Vrana is only signed thru next season. so DET is only retaining thru then. if he continues to produce and stay clean, he'll get a decent deal. dont see him re-signing here on the cheap

That was a good interview. Listening to him tell the story of how the trade went down was sad but the way he explained it was also funny at the same time. His agent really is the one that screwed up, and Berglund said Buffalo would have been the very first team on his no-trade list if his agent did his job.

Another thing he said was that it wasn’t a good group of guys in Buffalo. But one of the only guys he connected with who was always checking in on him was…Marco Scandella. Said he’s a good guy. Mentioned Sam Reinhart and one of the Swedes too but that was it.

Wow Bergy's agent royally screwed him over. Then had the audacity to put the entire blame on Bergy. No, as an agent it was your job.

Stupid thought, but it sounds like he has a case for Mal-practice doesn't it? Granted this is just one side of the story.

I'm surprised that Oshie wasn't brought up.
Oshie was brought up. How they roomed together in the West End their rookie years, how Oshie would party hard and then become “sleepy Oshie” after 2 hours and Bergy would just have a buzz by then. That then dovetailed into a convo about the time Berry’s “alarm clock didn’t work”, which they all agreed/admitted was a crock. Bergy was just too drunk/hungover and by the time he woke up, practice was already over.

He said he forgot to charge his phone and the battery died during the night. Splitting hairs I know! Also pretty crazy that they sent team security to his place to literally get him out of bed and send him to the rink.

Interesting to hear him say he doesn't blame Army at all for trading him. In fact he said he would have done the same thing. Guess Army isn't as big of a douche as some people seem to think around here.
