I disagree. Too hard to come up with parameters on such award. Also, this implies that the Norris always just goes to the guy who puts up most points. While there is a connection, those guys who usually put up lots of points are also very good defensively. Last year Josi was not really that good defensively, but got votes. But guys like Makar, Fox, Hedman, McAvoy etc, they are also great defensively. And the fact is, if you want to be a great defensman in this league it's not enough to be a force in front of the net. You have to have a great ability to breakout offensively, QB a PP, make the sound passes etc.
Like you can't win a Selke anymore either if you don't put up numbers. Don't tell me there are not better defensive forwards in this league than Bergeron, because there are. Bergeron is still the poster boy for Selke, because he also puts up numbers. That's what Norris is about as well. You have to put up numbers.
If we were to do a "defensive defensman award", it should be based on advanced stats and f*** the votes. Same with Selke, just put up a formula to sum up all the relevant metrics.
