Shout out to Tom Gaglardi. Dug in and talked his **** to get Robertson on that four-year deal. Probably could've gotten 5-6 years for something like $9-9.5m/yr. Now he can pay him $12M/yr in four years.

Imagine Robertson dug his heels in and would only sign a 1 year deal. Dude would be getting the bag next summer.
Instead, he's the new MacKinnon contract for 4 years.

Oh yah if he keeps this up thats a great comparison. Dallas seems to be primed to do damage in the coming years when you look and see the players they have in the stable.

To me the thing with Dallas this year is how the older core is bouncing back. Pavelski refuses to age which we all know but Benn/Seguin have been pretty rough the past few years and they've been great so far this season. I'm not sure how long it lasts but Benn looks better this season than he has the past 4 years. The young guys always looked good but someone like Benn looked like he was on the ropes.

I think it was 1) Seguin recovering from hip surgery and mainly 2) Bowness being such an awful coach when it comes to letting players produce offfensively.
Dallas' success is absolutely being driven by the young core, not the old guys.
Robertson, Hintz, Heiskanen, Oettinger, etc.
Benn is pretty much just riding the success of those guys. His analytics are still pretty bad and point towards significant regression for him coming soon. Seguin still sucks.
On another note, Edmonton is about to fall below .500

Who has said otherwise? Not really surprising tho. Was there anybody that didn't believe in Miro, Robertson, Oettinger? Robertson scored 40 last year.
It's surprising that Benn has 10 goals and 24 points in 21 games even if his underlying numbers suck. He's 33 and it looked like he could be finished any year now. I agree a regression is coming which will hurt Dallas. He's literally 2nd on the team in points and 2nd on the team in goals. He had 18 goals with shitty underlying numbers last year and already has 10 goals this season.

What? I literally said the thing with Dallas this year is the older core who has absolutely sucked/been hurt the past few years have bounced back. That's surprising. I would have bet someone like Benn was an anchor this year. It has nothing to do with Colorado. Not sure where you got that from. I don't even think Dallas wins a cup and all the aging/cores etc. was based on cup wins.
Nobody should of expected Robertson/Otter/Miro to be anything other than elite this season. Which they are. Expecting Benn/Seguin to produce as much as they have this year was the long shot.

Just meant I thought there was decent potential for Benn to be a boat anchor on Dallas's young core this year given his cap hit. That's been the thing for me. Seguin/Benn aren't anchors so far this season. When it comes to Dallas I 100% agree an aging core was an issue this season. Seguin/Been make what like 18+ mill combined?
If all our core ages like Jamie Benn has the past few years than yeah it'll be over pretty quickly for us.

He was pushing off to make saves. Not sure how you can fault the guy for that. Every goalie does it, the net just happened to come off multiple times in this game.
