Hes still in the NHL? You know what good for Derrick.
Mans secures that NHL contract whenever possible. Gotta set up the future retirement while he can still play.

I'll bet Brassard plays another 3/4 years and we find him on teams like Arizona, San Jose, Chicago, etc. Teams that will for sure suck and he can be one of their 12 forwards to get that 750K baby.

Yah man respect lol

Flyers had a good October but their November is as bad as the Sabres'.

The Torts factor lasted a month.

Adding to that post...

Seems like it's only a matter of time before D.J. Smith gets shown the door. He always struck me as a Glen Hanlon-type anyway. An interim guy who deserved a legit shot at being the guy, but ultimately couldn't get them over the top.

I'm guessing Don Granato's run will end either during or after the season. A real shame because he really did a lot to get things trending in the right direction following Pegula's continual faceplants, Ralph Krueger running the team into the ground, and the whole Jack Eichel debacle. If nothing else he's gotten the development of a lot of kids on the right track, especially Rasmus Dahlin and Tage Thompson. But the Sabres don't seem to play with any cohesive defensive structure whatsoever, and you simply can't do that with the goaltending they have.

On a completely unrelated note, my God, Cam Fowler is a terrible defenseman. Never understood why the Ducks valued him so much.

With Couturier, Atkinson, JVR, Konecny (I think) and now Laughton hurt on a roster that wasn't that good to begin with, it was only a matter of time before they hit the skids. Add to that they got Ristolainen back, that right there is a HUGE subtraction by addition.

To be clear, Torts wasn't a bad hire, in fact he was a good one, the problem is that Philly spent the entire offseason mired in indecision. They have no idea what they want to do or where to go.

It's funny, some truly ridiculous RR uniforms have come about since the program started, and despite that, the Ducks still have by far the worst jerseys in hockey AINEC.

The rules should be the same for everyone regardless of where they played junior hockey.

They could use the occasion to close the NCAA UFA loophole while they are at it. If they didn't have a good enough reason to do it before, Adam Fox changes things now.

Flames literally lost a franchise defenseman because of it. They should be really pissed off.
"NCAA UFA loophole"
You do realize that the same thing could happen with a CHL player, right?

Devils are legitimat, no doubt. Not in love with their goaltending or D personally but they have taken the next step.

Just puzzles me some reactions on here we are the defending champs winning games with 6 ahl players. No need to drool over that team lol. Our fan base is really soft/insecure

Yeah I wanna see NJ loose a couple before anointing them at good team. Young teams like that can get extremely hot, build up an unsustainable amount of confidence and then just implode after a couple of losses. Hell, we kind of see it every year with buffalo.
Difference is that the underlying numbers for the Devils are elite, and Buffalo’s were bad. I thought maybe Buffalo could last a while longer with timely goaltending and scoring but that wasn’t the case.

The Devils are clearly a good team, the question is whether they’re a contender. I’m still not convinced the goaltending is good enough for a deep playoff run but they’re not a fluke.

When you control over 60% of xGF% every game, you don’t need even average goaltending. Just Kuemper level play would suffice.

So acknowledging other teams are good means we’re insecure? Huh?

I'm reading the 2017 redraft thread on the main board and man, that's a tough one. So many top players for a draft that was supposed to be a shit one.

Dallas getting 3 elite players in a single draft is pure insanity.

1D:
Makar (elite)
Heiskanen (elite)

1G:
Oettinger (elite)

1C:
Pettersson
Suzuki
Hischier
Thomas
Norris

1W:
Robertson (elite)
Batherson
Necas

At some point even those guys will need to steal a game or two, but yeah, when the team controls play to that degree, the goaltending does not have to be stellar.

Was just looking at defense scoring leaders. How the hell is Hampus Lindholm a PPG player so far this year? Dudes career high is 34 and he has 18 in 18 so far.
