Interesting that it's coming from Jack Todd.

Maybe I'm just biased as a Finn, but I don't understand why some people are so quick to write Kotkaniemi off. Will he ever live up to the draft position? No. Could he still become a good NHLer and provide good value through that contract? Absolutely. It has been an atrocious start for his season, but the guy is only 22. The cap hit is under 5, and with the cap going up it's should not be that hard for him to hit a level where you can be happy with that contract.

As for whether or not the Habs did the right choice in letting him go, they probably did. The player was not happy there, and the OS was brutal for Montreal.

If I recall didnt Hab fans want Zadina? That hasnt exactly worked out for Detroit.

Lafreniere was held in very high regard too... some pan out and some don't.

What I see as a real different in Bedard compared to many of the hyped names of years past, he's doing what he is doing on pure IQ, skill, and skating. The skating will get elevated as he moves up, so that may not be a difference maker... but IQ and skill translate very well. In that way he is more McDavid/Crosby than he his Lindros or many of the other incredibly hyped names. I think he's going to be a special player for a team, but I wouldn't be shocked if he has a rough rookie season adjusting to NHL skating and physicality.
I see similarity between him and jack hughes

EASILY the worst RR to come out so far.
