Pens about to fall out of the playoffs.
They are trying to keep the band together, but it's more of keeping an OK team together.

Flashes back to when the Avs got the band back together only to get shit mixed out of the playoffs by Detroit. They are trying to keep the band together, but it's more of keeping an OK team together.
Why too much? They're paying 6M for a legit #1D. That is way less than most teams. Who cares if it is 6 years. Pens will be rebuilding by then.I get it, but that's way too much.
Term was the problem for me.Why too much? They're paying 6M for a legit #1D. That is way less than most teams. Who cares if it is 6 years. Pens will be rebuilding by then.
Term isn't a problem if they'll suck in years 4/5/6 because Crosby most likely retires by then, as does Malkin.Term was the problem for me.
Just surprised they would give him such a big thank you contract.Term isn't a problem if they'll suck in years 4/5/6 because Crosby most likely retires by then, as does Malkin.
Years 4/5/6 are basically "thank you" years for Letang's service since he joined the Penguins years ago. Total money is a lot for Letang, AAV is low for Pittsburgh. Win-win. Show me legit #1D like Letang making 6M.
Why give thank you contracts anyway?
It's cap era and business is business.
We might as well sign Kuemper for 6x6 for a thank you. No sir.
Yeah it's a bad comparison, but still.

Makes sense the way Game 5 was whistled.Bettman on NHL Radio basically says he loves close, unpredictable games that keep people interested. So, better get used to the abomination that is NHL officiating. Game Management is here to stay.
Gotta love the fact that nobody calls him out on game management.Bettman on NHL Radio basically says he loves close, unpredictable games that keep people interested. So, better get used to the abomination that is NHL officiating. Game Management is here to stay.
And likely lost them one as wellGame management won a game for the Avs in the Finals...
Win some, lose some. Game management has its place... clearly or we call every stupid thing and get great moments like Kadri's goal taken away. And likely lost them one as well

He also likes shit-awful noncompetitive desert hockey teams so he's not exactly consistent on this.Bettman on NHL Radio basically says he loves close, unpredictable games that keep people interested. So, better get used to the abomination that is NHL officiating. Game Management is here to stay.
I remember arguing he is not all that good and that the Hawks are idiots for letting him play at the WJC. One limp wrist and unimpressive tenure in Chicago later and I feel I was sadly right. He is talented, but the kid lacks drive. Rich mans Grigorenko.I can't wait for Chicago to trade all three of these first round picks they just took within four years. Dach makes it, what, eight years in a row now?
Quite the draft there, Hesher, huh?Looks like the Blackhawks really want Bedard.
