Lol. I just saw the most cherry picked stats ever in a home team broadcast...

The records of teams since April 12 (in regular season) to show that the Sabres are top 5.

So end of a season and start of another, arguably the least meaningful games of 2 seasons separated by 6 months... with all the roster turnover... Wtf!

They wouldn’t promise him a spot on the team. You know, because of all the vaunted youth and depth we have in our bottom 6 forward group…
Wouldn't promise him a spot or allow him to go back to Sweden if he didn't get one. Slight, but significant difference.

Avs don't tend to make a lot of promises to prospects, and they like their Euros to come over and stay where they can be moved up and down between the AHL and NHL. I don't know of Aman maintained that with Vancouver, but I heard that was the central breakdown with the Avs. Either way, Avs lost out on Aman who looks solid in Vancouver.

Aman legit surprised me. I didn't think he was worth a damn thing. Didn't see anything in his game that was remotely NHL level... and then his skating took a massive jump forward last year. Now I don't think he's much of a scorer or anything beyond a 4th liner... maybe bottom 6 guy. But when his skating took a leap forward, you suddenly have a guy who can play roles. Props to the Avs scouting there.

Also Rolston has really turned a corner too... kid looks legit right now.

If you want signs that Avs' scouting has turned a corner, there are some hovering in the background.

And yet it looks like the scouts of other teams can see those signs better than our own management team since it's the two guys we traded/didn't sign who are turning into something.

Not that I'm an authority or anything... but I didn't see it coming with Aman either. The step he took last season was gigantic... and he may still only be a 4th liner. I liked Rolston enough in his draft year and then he stunk it up in his +1 and I soured... didn't look like any sort of jump would be there. After that season he must have worked out the hunchbackness in his skating, and when that was taken out, he starting having much higher impact. This year he's the most dangerous player for Notre Dame.

That said, not allowing a Euro clause or handshake agreement for Aman was a mistake. When a kid makes a jump like that, you should see it through.
