Plus minus aside, it's well known that Karlsson is not good defensively. I don't know why you guys arguing with me.

Or maybe he’s so good with the puck that it matters a lot less how he plays without it.Plus minus aside, it's well known that Karlsson is not good defensively. I don't know why you guys arguing with me.
If Avs had Karlsson instead of Makar last year, they don't win the cup. McDavid alone would abuse Karlsson. Karlsson can put up points and he's an elite offensive talent, but being able to defend as a d-man is being underestimated here. Being a d-man is not only about putting up points. Actually being a d-man is defense first, offense secondOr maybe he’s so good with the puck that it matters a lot less how he plays without it.
I’m willing to bet (and by no means am I advocating a trade here) if you swapped Makar and Karlsson that complaints about Cale’s defense would skyrocket and you wouldn’t notice EK65’s mistakes nearly as much.

How? Makar has outscored Karlsson's best offensive season. Makar has scored more goals than Karlsson, and again, Makar is much better defensively than Karlsson ever wasPeak Karlsson was better than anything we’ve seen from Makar to date. Don’t @ me
This is a much different era offensively than peak Karlsson had. How? Makar has outscored Karlsson's best offensive season. Makar has scored more goals than Karlsson, and again, Makar is much better defensively than Karlsson ever was
Again, Karlsson is an elite offensive talent, and even if Makar may have not put up same offensive numbers back in those days, he'd still be much better defensively than Karlsson. No one is denying that Karlsson is elite offensively, it's no secret that he's a liability on defense and often makes mistakes that leads to goals against, something you don't see Makar do very oftenThis is a much different era offensively than peak Karlsson had.
Karlsson’s best season was in a lower scoring era on a much much worse team. He also led that team to within one goal of the SCF losing narrowly to the champs. He single handily dragged a fringe playoff team there. How? Makar has outscored Karlsson's best offensive season. This… but Karlsson is super underrated defensively. If you’re into +/-… it’d be worth diving into the huge disparity for the sharks 5v5 with and without Karlsson on the ice. He dramatically changes thing.Karlsson’s best season was in a lower scoring era on a much much worse team. He also led that team to within one goal of the SCF losing narrowly to the champs. Defensively I’ll give you that but neither of these guys will be remembered for defensive play.
I don't know about that. I've heard plenty of praises given to Makar for his defense as well as his offense. The job he did in the playoffs against McDavid and just his overall performance on both sides of the ice. A lot of hockey reporters label Makar as elite defensively, something you don't hear about Karlsson.Karlsson’s best season was in a lower scoring era on a much much worse team. I think you’re seeing this year that as the Avs become a less dominant possession team and he spends more time in his own zone he gets exploited similarly.I don't know about that. Kinda fire, ngl

Worst post ever. That's all I'm gonna say on this oneNot surprising you completely missed the point there. This has NOTHING to do with whether or not the Avs win the Cup or not with Karlsson instead of Makar, I'm saying you'd be bitching about Makar's plus/minus if he were in San Jose and think the world of Karlsson in Colorado.
Oh, and while he might be better defensively than EK65, Makar is not as good in that department as you think he is. He is in the perfect system and coach for what he is with plenty of support that allows him to freelance without getting burned regularly. He lost some of that support this season due to injury and what not and it definitely exposed some flaws in his defensive game.
And "actually being a d-man is defense first, offense second" is one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read, it wouldn't apply to Makar, it most certainly wouldn't apply to Sandis Ozolinsh, and it wouldn't apply to a lot of top defensemen in the league, like Roman Josi. Those guys are not there to be defensive stoppers. They are there to catalyze the offense, defense is secondary to players like that.
