It’s maybe not the best idea to dismiss the Kraken. They’ve been somewhat impressive the past two games against the Avs. Yes, they’re mostly young and their team is new but that can also work in their favor.

Round 1 god mode Nathan MacKinnon shooting on Grubauer would certainly be something to watch

If Landy isn't ready for go for round 1, Seattle is probably the team you want.

Let's hope St Louis has enough pride to win the last home game of the year.

I don't understand the Penguins, they have had bottom-six problems the entire season, but there's no offence from anyone on that team anymore. You don't really hear any hype about Malkin, Guentzel, Rakell, Rust, Letang, Petry, and anybody else anymore. Letang is rubbish, surprised that there are fans of him still here, he's never been that good.
They have scored more goals than Carolina and Wild for example. The problem seems to be defense, goaltending and consistency of the forwards. All playoff bound teams have positive double digits in goal differential and Pens are at -1.

Crosby and Malkin are ppg and Guentzel is close. Rakell, Rust and Zucker have ok seasons, but after that no effective forward depth. Sort of similar to Avs this season except our top guys have been lights out all season, when healthy enough to play. Our defense has also been better and Georgiev > Jarry. TDL moves also failed for Pens. Bonino and Kulikov got injured quickly and Granlund just sucks.

They currently have 62+ million tied to 14 guys with average age of 32.6, and they have few significant UFAs (Zucker, Dumoulin, Jarry).

Oh the goaltending is bad and I had some Penguin fans actually defend Jarry on the main board, but I was talking about some of their games. For 99% of that game yesterday, Penguin was able to score just one goal against Chicago. That's pathetic, however, I might be just looking at certain scenarios since they did score a bunch of goals in three or so games before that game so consider this post with a grain of salt if need be.

Them missing the playoffs is just setting up for Crosby 2C next year.

F*** me Ryan Hartman with an insanely dirty hit on Nikolaj Ehlers. Puck nowhere near Ehlers, guy steps up and throws an open ice hit on an unsuspecting guy. Then in the post-game he says he threw the hit intentionally to send a message because the Jets were apparently targeting Kaprizov last time the two teams played.

Man if I'm the NHL, not only is that an insanely dirty hit but the guy is admitting after the game to wanting to throw that hit. I'd throw the book at Hartman but DoPS probably gives him a fine.

Hartman actually HAD the puck and gave it away so that he could hit Ehlers. Dude is a first class moron. DOPS are a bunch of p***yes so they'll never do it, but with the Wild only having one game left I'd love to see Hartman sit out game 1 of the first round.

He's a slimebucket but I guarantee you the brass LOVED the drama, especially that ridiculous exchange between Bones and Evason. No way does anyone come away with that with anything more than a silly slap on the wrist, if that.

Mild and Jets game got feisty.

Two very nasty hits by Reeves and Hartman. Then a crosscheck hard to the mid section by Pionk.

How do you say that dudes name? Like Boink but with a P? Or is it like Peeonk lol. I'm 13 again rN lol.

Kraken would be the easiest for sure. There’s no way they can beat the Avs. Mild and Kings have some stars

If Ryker can learn to stfu about shutouts, we can avoid statements like this.

As John Mandalorian might very well point out, only a Sith deals in absolutes.

This is the way

By the way this is yet another instance where the whole myth of the goon as a "deterrent" is complete and utter bullshit. In fact, Evason put Reaves out there precisely to escalate the violence, not to deter it.

There's only one way to deter dirty plays in hockey and that's to throw the book at repeat offenders or any egregious acts. But we all know the league will never let DoPS do that.

They'll probably suspend him for a meaningless game and he'll be back for the playoffs.

A fine? No, they're going to say 'that's fine' and he'll get nothing.

There are certain guys where being a goon is their whole existence. But there are other non-goons who are not above taking cheap shots or pushing the limits sometimes. These guys often won't really want to fight. There are more of those than there are goons.
