That moron Sean Avery mocked Clayton Keller for wearing ear protection, tell you what if I'm being told I have to block shots you can be goddamned sure I'm wearing ear guards.
Being mocked by Sean Avery though...isn't that like universal admission that you are doing something right?

That dude is a rotten, miserable, POS through and through and is a stain on humanity.

Loving Kim Kostin , great trade by the Oilers and he is tough too, laying it out there with the idiot Lemieux.

Too bad our we didnt grab him when he was available, what a player he's gonna be

Oilers made out like bandits on that one. Kostin from the first call up took full advantage of his opportunity. Started on the 4th line. Made every shift count and worked his way up the line up onto special teams now. Tonight was his second multi goal game since being called up. Guy has a decent touch, hits and aint a bad fighter.

Seen Mason McTavish play a handful of times but ugh he looks like not good. He actually looks worse than Newhook,
Didn't see him last night, but McTavish looks like a very good long-term #2C. He plays a much different style than Newhook in how he lives in dirty areas with a physical game and is a much bigger player (a real thic boi). He doesn't have a ton of flash to his game (outside when he gets a chance to wind up his shot), but he's pretty effective. I would take him 100/100 times over Newhook.

Yeah +/- is basically a team dependent stat. I definitely wouldn’t put any stock into how good or bad a player is defensively on that stat.

I know this is jest based on his comments, but he has to be frustrated with his complete lack of driving any sort of offense. His defense is still fine, but goodness the guy just cannot do anything offensively. Always behind and chasing.
And it’s really not a lack of good linemates either.

Obviously I’m not a fan of his but I am a fan of his game, and I’m completely stunned that it’s fallen off as badly as it has. If you had told me five years ago that Duchene would age better into his thirties than O’Reilly I’d have told you to pound sand.

Same. I assumed he would age much better based on his game not relying on speed or purely his physical attributes. But I think his skating has actually dropped of enough that he can’t make up for it with his brain anymore, which I did not see coming.

Players on a terrible team dominate the bottom of stats. News at 11.

ROR being that low is kinda funny, concerning, and points out the flaw of the stat all at the same time.
4 guys from the same team

ROR is just looks cooked. His skating was always his biggest detriment, but his IQ was good enough to made up for it. Now that his legs are failing him he just can't keep up no matter what he does since the league has gotten so speedy.

I’d still buy low on ROR for a rental only situation. He can play 3C minimum I’m sure. Probably look pretty good with Nuke.

I think Duchene’s aging being extended is mainly due to him accepting playing wing. If he was still playing center he’d struggle right now. Playing wing has simplified his game and allowed him to focus on what he can do really well.

That said, last year was an anomaly and just bananas. He’s roughly back where he should be this year with the league scoring still high.

Imagine if his contract finished last year instead of this year and some poor team would have signed him to 7 or 8 years at big AAV. Holy shit.

This is the player they'd get on year one.

We'll never know but I bet he'd have made 30M more in career earnings if he'd have signed for 6 years instead of 7 years with Buffalo.

There is a strong case to be made for higher end players, that the best age to get your ‘last’ big contract is 29. A number of reasons for that.

That said… teams will still pay ROR and pass this year off as a bad year, not a trend.

I think he just really benefitted from an obscene contract year from Forsberg. I'd be curious to see how many of his points were fed off of his
