I dug into Girard's numbers a bit and I couldn't help but notice a negative correlation (for everything) once he started playing regularly with Jack Johnson.

As you can see, Girard has spent nearly triple (288%) the amount of time with Jack Johnson in his last 32 games compared to his first 32. That correlation has translated to less offense/chances and more in-zone starts (and presumably ice time). It's worth pointing out Girard's offensive zone starts during his breakout season last year was 60.9%, way higher than this season and more in line with what you'd expect for a player of his type.

I'm not saying Jack Johnson is responsible for Girard's struggles. Girard is responsible for his own poor play; further evidence of that is that Girard is still struggling despite barely playing with JJ since returning from injury. But I definitely think that the aforementioned pairing was a match made in H-E-double hockey sticks that sent Girard's season into a nosedive.

What’s the deal with Turcotte, is he still projected to have second line potential or has that been thrown out the window? I look at his numbers and I know they don’t paint the full picture, but they still leave a lot to be desired. Is he Jost 2.0?

I think a lot of people thought he needed another year in college. Reminds me a lot of Jost when he had a really good college season and jumped the gun because of the opportunity available for their big club. Mind you Turcotte has a much higher ceiling than Jost does, but if I drafted a college kid I'd be asking him to commit to two years of college. He definitely still has top-6 potential, but he's not coming along as quickly as someone like Zegras.

No shock that he sucks playing with Jack Johnson when you consider Jack Johnson really sucks.

Wasnt Turcotte offense always a question mark? Maybe it was someone else but I seem to recall people wondering that. I remember alot of ROR comparisons with Turcotte.

I don’t think the elite defensive play has followed Turcotte either tho which was supposed to be the fall back if his skill didn’t translate

Turcotte is going to be a NHL player, he should develop into a #2/3C version of Lehkonen with a bit more offense.

The issue is that he has that high draft pedigree and LA didn't draft him to only become a #3C. Still way too early to say, but this season has not looked kind to Byfield, Turcotte, or Kupari.

How about Vilardi?

Completely forgot about it. He's such a wildcard, This season should've been his breakout season, no idea what happened to him. I still believe he has too much talent to not be top 6 forward, assuming he can stay healthy.

I said it before as well but Scheifele's name has come up in Winnipeg many times as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see them clean house a bit.

I think they'll try and keep Dubois though. Unless he makes it clear he won't stay long term.

I've also seen Barzal's named mentioned a couple times recently. Another good trade option if he decides he's unwilling to sign in NYI.

Barzal on the Avs would be so much fun, I could see him doing really, really well with Nichushkin. Dubois may fit the need better though, and a line of Lehkonen-Dubois-Nichushkin would be an absolute pain in the ass to play against. However, that's all wishful thinking, I don't see the Avs with the assets to get either.

PLD fits the Islanders/Lamoriello style a lot more than Barzal. I could see a swap if Barzal is willing to sign in Winnipeg.

Barzal should be trying like hell to get out of Long Island. He's making 7M right now yet hasn't topped 65 points since his rookie season.

No doubt playing in that Islanders system is potentially costing him money.

Barzal would be a dream fit for this team. Imagine the transition game with him and Makar/Byram on the ice. Could literally carry his own line too.

Would y'all be interested in Zadorov coming back? Wouldn't be any more expensive than Manson and there is an obvious need in the lineup for a defender taller than 5' 11.25''
