At this point, Manson hasn't shown anything to sujest we should give him an extension, much less at a 4M cap hit.

His best comparables are probably in the $3.5-3.75m region so it might not take $4m. I simply used that as a rough estimate.

I understand his next contract is probably going to be around that number, i just don't think we should be the ones giving it to him, based on his play so far.

I see a lot of talk on Kadri and his next contract, and at this point it's probably best to just forget about it and enjoy the rest of the season.

The thing with Kadri is going to be buyers remorse. Some team will give him a big number but it's highly likely we'll never see a season close to this one ever again from him.

There is a reason he was a 50-60 points guy his whole career. He's had a lot of good fortune this year. 29 has missed a good chunk of time Kadri was the fill in, meaning time with 92 and 96. He's been PP1 with 29, 96, 92, and 8, you get time with those guys on the PP it helps.

Also it's just the dumb stuff like his pass to Rantanen last night on, extreme low percentage, no look, through a guys legs, perfectly on 96s stick for an easy goal. More often than not that play deflects off the defender for a harmless clear.

He's worked hard gotten some luck, and it's going to result in a big payday. Good for him, I'm happy for him. It just unfortunately isn't going to be with us.
While I don't think that he's going to get paid exclusively based on this year's numbers, I hope for that team that they won't use him as a 1C.

But top 6 C's are rare and expensive, especially on the UFA market. IMO he's getting something like 6X6.

I think he’s getting $7.5+

So many desperate teams out there who need top-6 talent. He’s going to get so ridiculously overpaid that the Avs don’t really have a shot imo.

7.5-8m x 6 is my guess.

BRING BACK HOWLER
(and make him even bigger and scarier than before. I'm talking sharp teeth and claws, maybe a bit of viscera around the mouth and a severed arm he carries around)

I think this concept has already been leaked on the internet

There's no way he gets that much IMO. If 7 or more he gets no more than 4 years.

The Dallas Stars gave 35 year old Joe Pavelski $7Mx3 in recent memory (it worked out obviously). He was coming off a 38 goal/64 point season for the record.

Some desperate GM is going to go to his owner and convince him Kadri is the missing piece. Or a team that's all in may think it's worth it to give him a bad contract if they can win in the next 1-3 seasons. Either way, I think he's on pace to get $8M+ on his next deal.

Blackwood may be available...would anyone take the risk if they can't get Kuemper re-signed?

On one hand, even though Francouz gets a heavy dosage of bad teams, Colorado can probably win the division with him in net. Blackwood would be an interesting 1B to gamble on.

On the other hand...New Jersey has allowed the 6th fewest High Danger Chances against and are middle of the pack in scoring chances against (14th) but are 31st in SV% and Blackwood has 1980's numbers.

Cap issues may necessitate Sakic gambling on someone young like Blackwood though, so I'm not against it. But it's a gamble.

Noooooooo thank you on Blackwood. The way he's carried himself both on and off the ice make that a complete non-starter. At least be good if you're going to be a whiny pain in the ass.

We know Frankie will not be the starter. We'll see what happens but I don't think Joe will be short a starting goalie at the beginning of next season.
