It would be fun for a player to say something super negative. Like:

"I can tell you that, just from what I've seen, Denver is a f***ing shit pile filled with a bunch of weed smoking kids who choose to be homeless begging for food on 16th street mall, the nearest beach is on a f***ing reservoir and can fit about 10 people on it, the airport's like 15 miles from downtown, there is no night life, the Broncos suck, and Nate won't even let me eat a sandwich unless its carb free and has 17 different green leaves in it. I'd rather be playing in the desert in front of 4000 people in Arizona. f*** this place."

I think you're being overly optimistic about how many fans Arizona can draw.

Is this a Kyle Quincey quote or Shane O’Brian?

Great, then explain your reasoning.
The Hawks survived at least a couple seasons IIRC with an enormously expensive second pairing before finally having to send Brian Campbell packing. I'm not saying it's easily done, but you keep treating it like G is a goner if they re-up Manson, and I just don't think I agree. The cap situation won't be pretty at all the next few years but it won't be completely untenable.

He'd cost between 4M and 5M AAV.

Can't afford a 9M or 10M second pairing on D so he's not staying unless we trade Girard for a cheap 2C.

Perhaps we can have him for less in exchange for term but do we want to give long term to 32 yo Manson?

Manson could probably be brought back for $4m or high 3's, which is definitely doable if the Avs want to do it.

Here's a roster projection with some rough contract estimates, where Kadri and Burakovsky walk, and where Compher is traded and replaced by a ~$5m 2nd line winger.

The roster would be counting on a rookie (eg. Ranta/Olausson) to fill the 3RW spot which is a risk of course, but Lehkonen should facilitate that line. There's of course also the possibility of buying out or trading EJ if more capspace is needed.

Obviously the roster isn't without flaws, but it should be fine until the deadline where a 3C and/or middle 6 forward can be added.

The Broncos got Russell Wilson, I don't think they are going to suck for a few years.

Alex is only on that deal for one more season though. And he's got bonus overages to worry about.

Either he solidifies himself as 2C (I'm not sure the Avs would be comfortable with him at 2C next year either) and commands a decent raise, or they have to bring in a more expensive 2C.

May not be impossible but I agree with Balth, it's going to be tough to keep both G and Toews long term. And that could factor into their decisions in the short term as well. If they re-sign Manson and need to trade for a 2C this summer, that could be enough to move G. But we'll see.

If Bo can make the comeback stick, and can play healthy through the playoffs, G is a goner.
