Y'all are jumping way too quick away from Kuemper. I'm not really a big fan of the guy but he's been solid. A couple games he's been bad in these playoffs and last night was surely a turd... but you're not getting a better goalie without a ton of cost.

Saying that, there is no way I'd want to pay the going rate for a starter ($6m aav). I'd much rather go after MAF on a dirt cheap contract because he wants another Cup.

Fricking Mike Smith is playing worlds better then him. Antti Raanta is playing worlds better then him.

Is it too much to ask for you goalie to play to the level of a Mike Smith?

I think that's about the only viable option. Not ideal, but the ideal option is simply not out there. There's no disgruntled Patrick Roy waiting to be traded.

Raanta has always been talented, he's just always been hurt. Not shocking he's playing well.

Smith let in a goal from the other side of the ice that could have lost the Oilers the game. He's going to crumble soon.

Gibson could be had.

At what cost though I'm not sure Gibson is so much of a better option than Kuemper and the trade cost would be gross.

Gibson is worlds better than Kuemper.

And the cost is whatever it costs (not as much as people think though). The Avs just spent a 1st and a young NHL defensemen for one year of a goalie. Who cares if it costs, if it solves the problem.

If you hate Kuemper you are going to hate Korpi he is brutal. Like so bad.
I like him hee has been battling injury and I stull remember the clinic he put on against the Leafs. His GM believes in him too so it irrelevant...Kuemper has never been any good not even sure why he was a target Kuemper is a backup

Kuemper has always had good numbers, just could never stay healthy and carry a starting workload.

Korpi has had terrible numbers outside of his rookie year and 5 games in the playoffs. He's just not a good goalie at all. He's significantly worse than Frank...

Meyers looks poised to take the 3C job next season. If someone is willing to take Compher for free we’ll have 30 million in cap space.

It's beneficial to the Avs regardless. If Dallas matches, it's probably more money than they would like to pay him, if they don't, Avs overpay but get their longterm starter.
"Beneficial" until they offer sheet your player later for revenge

Did you miss the whole Montreal/Carolina drama?

I'm fine with that. Just don't leave valuable players out there to dangle.

That can't be helped sometimes.

If you're gonna offer sheet someone it should not be the "well, we'll send the offer sheet just to f*** with 'em" kind, it needs to be a "We're gonna get him" offer sheet, which means $6 million per ain't gonna cut it.

I'd be fine going higher, but that would require the Avs getting their 2nd round pick back.

At this point I think the Avs need to be really aggressive and find a long-term solution for their goaltender. Preferably a younger up and comer rather than someone you're hoping turns it around.
