I really wanted K'Andre. But wasn't Kaut drafted by Sakic when Bednar was HC? Kaut has developed some nice offensive consistency with the Eagles this season. I'm hoping he's not just discarded due to "style". I won't say anything about Kaut if he doesn't make the team out of training camp next season. Late bloomer I hope.
Varlamov. If we don't resign Kuemper it's going to be an interesting summer, to say the least.
Offer sheet Oettinger with all the picks we don't haveIf we don't resign Kuemper it's going to be an interesting summer, to say the least.
Wanted to keep Sturm next year but him getting healthy scratched doesn't look good.
Having both Nuke and Lehk in the top 6 is great on one side but risky on the other...neither guy can rely on talent to get it going. If we keep both IMO we'll need a 2C who can produce on his own, like Kadri.
Varlamov or Driedgerif they cant re-sign Kuemper, its obvious: Avs once again after a Caps goalie. theyll sign Vanecek and run with a czech duo on goal, 1A - 1B of Vanecek - Francouz. my opinion on this? games will be very entertaining. lol
Outside of Darcy carrying the Avs to the promised land, Nuke needs to be the top priority in FA. He must be re-signed at all costsSpeaking of not being able to re-sign, if Nuke walks, do we actually re-sign Kadri? That contract won't be pretty, but relying on getting the best UFA's like Forsberg is risky.
I agree, but if he wants to leave there's nothing we can do.Outside of Darcy carrying the Avs to the promised land, Nuke needs to be the top priority in FA. He must be re-signed at all costs
Vanacek wouldn’t be the guy I’d target. He’s just not a starter at all. If you’re targeting the Caps it has to be Samsonov. Definitely risky, but the raw talent is there if you can reign him in.if they cant re-sign Kuemper, its obvious: Avs once again after a Caps goalie. theyll sign Vanecek and run with a czech duo on goal, 1A - 1B of Vanecek - Francouz. my opinion on this? games will be very entertaining. lol

F*** that guy. He doesn't deserve our river.Would be sweet to sign Giroux cheap
Even if Nichushkin walks, I think Kadri is gone. After the season he's had (including playoffs), some team is going to go nuts to sign him.
I don't like the idea of trading young players, but if Colorado strikes out in free agency, there's probably a chance Newhook is moved for a youngish 2C.
If Nuke walks, call it a random prediction, but I could see a veteran like Reilly Smith being brought in to fill the void.
I don't see a reason to trade Alex Newhook. I also think someone is going to pay Reilly Smith 5M+ and at the age of 31 I don't want that team to be us.Reilly Smith - [Newhook Trade 2C] - Lehkonen
Interesting line

I wonder if Rantanen continues to play the way he has if management would consider moving him. I’M NOT SAYING WE SHOULD. More so that it could be a potential option that could allow for us to shed cap, receive assets and allow us to make a play at a major free agent.
The money could be used to retain Kadri and/or go after Forsberg and could also allow the Avs to add something like 2nd overall++ from NJ.
Just my $0.02 but I'd be stunned if they moved him.
Even while sleepwalking in the playoffs, Rantanen still is tied for the point lead amongst Colorado forwards. He's only 25, and assuming the Avs win a cup at some point, has a decent shot at the HHOF provided his game doesn't fall off a cliff.
Let's face it, offense was up this year. Forsberg and Kadri have both have good careers but both completely went off right before free agency. By comparison, this is his third time in the last four seasons in which Rantanen has paced (or scored) 95+ points.
IMO, Forsberg+Kadri (or Forsberg+Dubois, which was discussed before) will be worse than any (reasonably decent) 2nd line center you pair to Rantanen. I think (hope) Sakic knows that.
Nobody thought to tell him about Blue Mesa?F*** that guy. He doesn't deserve our river.
Don’t disagree, just curious if any fans are souring on Mikko and if the return was right would it be something to consider.
I personally believe Mikko will be here at least until the end of his current contract, but hopefully he plays with some more drive than what we’ve seen since February.
I think Rantanen will bounce back. But if he keeps struggling, it's definitely worth it for Bednar to consider a position change.
I pulled Rantanen's stat line while playing center this year (I do not think I missed any games). Small sample size, but it's quite impressive:

Hey if Mikko can move to center full time next year I think it solves a ton of problems and allow us to allocate money to other positions to create some very good depth.
Again I don’t think the Avs move on, especially after half of a less than ideal season. More so just a hypothetical/rosterbation thought.
