If he scores 20 this season then it will be positive for sure. He might not be getting assists but to be fair the only way to get assists on a regular basis with this team is to play with Suzuki or Caufield. 20 goals as a 18 years old playing 12-13 minutes would be very positive. His 3 goals were not fluke so he could do it.

LOL, I don't think Carr earns way more money than if he were a star in the NHL.
Yes, Carr would earn more money as a star in the NHL, than he does in Euro leagues... also if my grandma had wheels she'd be a bike...
Carr can't earn a spot in the NHL(He might be a 13th fw but every team have similar, younger or better option), why is being a star in the NHL a option...

You seem to lack the understanding that dominating at one level doesn't automatically translat to the next level or that dominating a one level isn't the cause of player failling to make the transition and domination in a league as a 25yo when 12 of every 18 skater have played less than 260 professional game and likely don't have top 6 NHL upside isn't the same as dominating the same league has a 18yo.
When talking about the Slaf situation, I don't think there is any arguements or parallel to be made with Carr...

I think he could pick up some assists playing on a line with Anderson and Monahan.

No but he's not a star in the NHL ... it's probably best for him to remain in switzerland though. A star there is paid between 300 000 and 400 000 i think (not sure). This is less than the minimum salary in the NHL but your job is secure since you're a star. Carr in the NHL is a 13th forward. He got no job security at all. If i had to chose between 700 000 and no job security and 350 000 and job security i would go for the latter.

He's starting to play like a big guy. In a year or two, he'll be impossible to take off the puck.
People are talking about Jagr for a reason i can't understand but when i watch Slaf it kind of reminds me early LeClair a bit. Big guy with a good shot but with a clunky release because of his size. Hard to knock off the opuck already but still not there yet. Good skating ability for his size but can be lost a bit at time.

I actually like him with Armia. They had a few moments of puck control/cycling that reminded me of the Staal/Armia line in the playoffs.

There's no doubt at this point he's more deserving of a larger role than a number of other forwards, and I think he can handle it.

I'd go with

1st line the same, then a middle six of:

Slaf - Monahan - Armia
Drouin - Dvorak - Anderson/Gallagher

There’s nothing he could gain playing at the WJC that would be more valuable than the experience he's getting right now.
He is very proud of his country, it would probably mean a lot to him and help him feel a sense of accomplishment to win anything there. Moreso than playing on the third line for the 5 games we have during that stretch. We're on a road trip during that period too so he'd only miss one home game.

That's interesting because Slovak coach Craig Ramsay compared him to LeClair in one interview. He actually coached LeClair in Philly.

He hasn’t played like Jagr at all. Using his body and his reach to get into a favorable position is something he was doing last season but has not done yet in the NHL.

He’s working on other things right now but what can really separate him from the pack is if he starts consistently using his body to get where he wants with the puck.

I'm old enough to have seen LeClair's debut with my own eye and yesterday i had LeClair vibe watching Slaf plays. Obviously LeClair was a though guy and a monster so i'm not talking about the physical play but the rest of his game dunno i think there's some similarities to early LeClair for sure.

That’s just the thing. They’re not passing games, but goal-scoring games. :sarcasm:

Waiting on @sheed36 to post his old man rim shot gif.

:m-dance:
I had that one saved but can't find it anymore so I'm going with this one today instead. :)

I agree that he won't gain much but If he want to go (this is his country best chance at a medal in some time/ play with player he came up with or what ever) I wouldn't be against it since it is only ±10days it is very close in Atlantic canada and these are the best player of is age also you might get some insight about player for the upcoming draft.

Agreed...............note though, he has been getting an average of 11 minutes of TOI and a couple of duds on the offensive side of the game...................he needs to move up the lineup soon.

That might be true if he wasn't playing...but he is.

If he would rather play for Slovakia instead of the Habs with his current usage, that would be a red flag for me .

Doesn’t look like Jagr to me either. Not sure where people are getting this from.

Great goal last night though.
