Maybe he was right on draft day!

Maybe we'll indeed see Slaf-Suzy-Caufield, and sooner than we expected :)

He's getting better consistently so far, it's fun to see his progression. Can't imagine him at 24 with all of his man strength.. Holy cow.

And, even if we stick with Caufield-Suzuki-Dach longish term, it would be great if we could draft someone like Bedard, Fantelli, Carlsson, or Mishkov to play with Slaf and one of our other promising forward prospects like Beck, Farrel, or Mesar.

Cupboard is full on defense. Just need some forwards and a number 1 goalie in the prospect pool.

Exactly.

Playing in WJC is best for his development in the long term IMO
Fair enough.

I just have a difficult time seeing how 3-4 week tournament where he might play as little as 4 games, against weaker opposition than he's currently facing, have an effect over the long term development.

But hey...TSN has done a wonderful job brainwashing folks into thinking playing in this tournament is some gateway to stardom.

A great game from him last night. Great shift and assist on the Anderson goal. He was relentless when given the chance on the PP. I was so pissed that MSL didn't put him out there in OT right away on the PP.

Big difference from Game 1 to last night in terms of the way he is handling the puck and shooting. I LOVE that he isn't afraid to shoot. He's got a great shot.

Things are definitely starting to come together for him out there.

He played well last night, very engaged in the play at all times, his assist on Andersons goal showed his vision and passing ability. We were all baffled as to why MSL wouldn't use him on the 5 on 3, sent Armia instead. He could very well become a guy that ends up with 40 assists a year, an excellent setup man.

He play well at defensive zone, he push Kovacevic to help him to make a good defensive play at 2v0.

He have a goalscorer shot aswell. 30-35g, 40-45a production per season... that's realistic, with his physical and two-way ability, that's a fantastic 1st overall pick. Not 90-100 player, but 70-80 points with physical and two-way ability? That's very good.

It all depends of his use in his prime and the quality of his linemates. If he ends up playing on the top PP with Suzuki, Caufield level players, he might end up with a couple of 80-90 pts seasons.

Can't wait for Monahan to come back to play with him and Anderson. His days on the 4th line should be over. Wouldn't be surprised if he hits 40 points this season.

I think 0.5 pts/game is reachable. You can see games where he is getting better and better. Next area to look at is when we face a fast team like the Leafs. Flames are a bit on the slow side and Slaf has a tiny bit more space. You won't get that with the Leafs.

Not trying to take anything away from Slaf. Just treating it as layers of evaluation and not getting too gullible on his progression. Best to stay humble

Agree with you, That would be a bonus if he put 80-90 points per season, he have the talent to put that, for sure. Imagine a PP with Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky and Hutson. We can all hope big things for these 5 players.

Out of his large toolbox, his best skill remains his passing/vision imo. Now that he is playing with Anderson who is actually able to score, his assists will go up. Can't wait until Monehyhands is back so he has someone who can pass back to him.

I think his vision and play making is very underrated. He is a skilled big man that skates well. Wait till he is 20 and is stronger. His shot is only going to get better too.

His points will depend on what talent he plays with. Not going to drive a line or the PP on his own but he will be a very important part of team contribution.

Anything from 60-100 pts is possible.

Love the part of the game last night where he just wired it skating in from the point. I want to see a bit more of that from Slaf and some other players. Got to know when to pass and when to shoot. We are still a bit pass happy to some degree.

Yes. But if he shoot more... we are going to all see his great goalscoring ability. This guy is a very good scorer aswell. He have the same qualities of Suzuki and Caufield (they are both great scorer and playmaker), Slafkovsky too.

At 20 years old, he is going to product really well in this league. Already 9 points in 23 games at 18 years old, that's really good... if we compare with rookie year of Andrei Svechnikov, Jack Hughes, Alexis Lafreniere, he have good 1st year.

Slaf is already playing the point on the 2nd PP unit and doing very well, cant imagine what it will be on the top unit with Suzuki, Caufield and hopefully Hutson who is a puck distributor monster... Future is bright, now lets hope they lose some so we can get another high end player in the nexy draft.

I don't think Habs will finish at bottom 5, but if they are finish at bottom 8-10... that's not bad at all, Florida pick can be a top 16 pick too (that's the good news so far).

Hope that Habs are going to be lucky at Lottery day. We never know!!

Injuries to key players like Caufield or Suzuki might hurt the team alot and we are going to sell at some point, so maybe bottom 5-7 and with the lottery you never know.

Juraj Slafkovsky led all skaters with an xGF% of 78.51% in 15:22 of ice-time. Also had the primary assist on the Habs lone goal.

I think he's cemented himself in the top six for the foreseeable future.
But think if he went to the WJC, he could boost his confidence, he could become a top six forward you know we've always wanted one of those.
