If you want a good drinking game, chug your drink anytime slaf has one hand on his stick. You'll be hammered halfway though his 1st shift haha

He got hit less than a second after, not interference, not a penalty and not late. Ref made a call bases on slaf laying on the ice. At least we can finally agree it was clean

Dude, I never said it wasn't clean. It was late. You get less than a second to hit. Schenn was late. Slafkovsky no longer had the puck.

Wasn't late, got hit a split second after. Your allowed to hit right after a pass. I'm done responding, you and the other 2 people who think this was late can keep believing that lmao

clean hit this isnt the first hit he gets caught with hes head down

Clean hit if is was the 90's. This was a blind side hit which they are trying to get rid of. Slaf needs to learn how to keep his head up yes but this is a blind side hit. Lets not confuse the two

He was completely motionless as he lay on the ice, as if in an unconscious state. He did the exact same stunt last time he got hit. You don't do that if you're conscious and in pain. That's nothing but embarrassing cheat.

I'd like to see you get a blind side hit like that and see how you react after your bell is rung. Can we avoid the microscope narrative on players for once? He is a 18 year old with size and he will be targeted more than smaller players cause the big boys in the NHL feel Slaf can handle it.

Will ignore the people who think our first overall pick should play like a goon, but his lack of awareness leading to him getting hit constantly is a very major red flag.
Problem is a lot of people saw a 230lb, 6'4 18yr old and thought he'd be a bruising power forward. Pre-draft, a lot were saying how he has this mean streak and is all tough and shit.

I mean, I do think he's tough and generally difficult along the boards but he's not a bruiser and I don't think that's the type of guy he is. Kinda like Dach; he isn't a power forward either and will never be.

That said, 100%, Slaf has to learn, and learn quick, NHLers are bigger, faster and more skilled than what he dealt with in Liiga.

And I laughed and laughed.

Yeah, he needs to be more watchful. Like I said in game thread, you can tell he played in Liiga. He's a big target, and doesn't have the experience of playing in a highly physical league.

It wasn't a head hit though, and I expect he was just winded. He needs to be more protective of himself physically, start anticipating these hits, and start reversing them.
Maybe he’d be better off learning this in the minors. I get the feeling he’s going to get really hurt. It’s happening all the time with him.

I missed the game last night because it's too late for a guy in Atlantic time zone who had to be on the ice at 6am today. Judging by all the Chicken Littles flocking out of the woodwork, I'm assuming Slaf's point streak ended.

just saw the hit, I didn't watch the game. Its a clean hit no doubt about it. Young buck has some growing pains learning the NA game. He will learn hopefully.

How do you know he wasn't knocked out? The video only shows him on the ice for a split second. The next shot of him he was getting up looking extremely out of it. I'd bet he did lose consciousness for a couple of seconds.

And could you point out the moment where Slaf's bell got hit ?

He is young, so i let the first scam go. He isn't getting away with the second one.
Pump the break tough guy. The kid got winded. I'm willing to bet he never got hit like that before coming to the NHL. It's bit surprising the first time u can't breath, don't know what's happening. Is he an old tough guy from the 80s who would get straight up? No. But jeez, give him time to adjust to the physicality here, he's 18.

A lot of people said and continue to sag a lot of nonsense about Slaf’s abilities. By description he was flawless and only held back by his coach in Liiga. Hah.

Nobody on here with at least half a brain ever thought an 18-year would come into the NHL and not have growing pains. Habs took the player they believe has the highest upside in the long-term. Until then there will be ups and downs like with any young prospect.

Your giddy "I told you so" posts every time Slaf has a game where he looks like an 18-year old in the best league on the planet have me convinced that Slaf is the first draft pick you've ever followed in any sport.

I don’t do that, you’re mistaken.

In any case after he was drafted I was adamant he shouldn’t be rushed to the NHL — now you spin that as “of COURSE he would get rocked every 4th game, he’s only 18!”

Well, he shouldn’t be in the NHL. That’s the point. He’s not like other 1OAs and shouldn’t be treated like other 1OAs. He was too raw and too lacking to be dropped onto the worst team in the NHL. And now it’s clear he is struggling.
