He scored against good hockey countries at the Olympics, BUT those countries didn't have their A, B or C squads there lol. Then at the World Championships he pretty much fed on the bottom feeder countries with next to no hockey programs.

I'm terrified he's gonna struggle to produce in the AHL😅 If he does then that should be grounds enough for Molson to fire Hugo next offseason :scared::scared::scared:
I watched the game against Canada and he was the best player on the ice for Slovakia. He overwhelmed the Canadian Ds and forwards many times. Including our own Andy.

He needs a lot of work, specially positioning, but he made quick passes tonight, which showed me he’s slowly picking up the beat.

I think he will be sent to Laval. And he’ll learn how to play as a NA pro. He’s got solid qualities. He’s f***ing 18 year old.

No.. there's not! Simple as that. In a year with a McDavid/Matthews sure, there's a huge gap.. otherwise, the top 5, even top 10 in many drafts can be interchangeable. So you're wrong here.

He was talking about the value of the pick itself not the guy you get with the said pick. So no, he wasn't wrong.

Should a number 1 pick be expected to score 20?
No.

Every player is different.

A #1 pick should be expected to be among the best players of their draft a few years after the draft. We didn't draft Slafkovsky to produce immediately. He was drafted since a lot of scouts, not just Habs scouts, think he'll be the best player down the line.

When RDS panelists are more rational and have better takes than some people of this board, you know it's really bad in here. Seriously. This thread ia going to be toxic for 2 years. I'll see myself out and try to control myself from coming back...

Blessing in disguise, this should make it much easier to send him to AHL. Let him get to a point where he can actually has a good full season in a league instead of a tournament. After that, he can get his NHL shot. Hopefully he only needs one year.

I’m gonna stay away from this thread for the next couple of days because the hot takes will be coming in hot.

When we had the first overall pick, i was expecting Habs fans to have patience with the player that will be selected. God was i wrong. Lafreniere should thank heaven we haven’t selected him first overall because he would be put in the same categorie as Daigle by our shitty fans.

We are a terrible fan base.
Bro. It isn't about patience. They reached on the pick and it's looking real bad so far. People are worried but haven't come to conclusions yet so they're still patient.

I mean Lafreniere, Hughes, RNH didn't.

Neither did Thornton or Lecavalier to go further back. But, I guess Lecavalier busted because he only got 28 pts his rookie year with only 13 goals.

This draft didn't have a #1 pick. Anyone of Slafkovsky, Wright, Nemec and Cooley could have gone #1. It's a good draft, but not a standout one.

But, you probably weren't paying attention to the pre-draft talk.

While I was divided on who to take on draft day I still think the Habs made the right choice.

The tools Slafkovsky has are unmatched by anyone else in the draft.

Whether or not he should start the season in the NHL I’m still not sure.
I don't think he should play in the NHL this year. He's a 2-3 year project, so why not develop him slowly and the right way. Just my opinion

Oh, I definitely was listening to the pre draft talk.

I have no opinions on slaf, Cooley, or Wright yet, but I'm just a little numb to the whole "have patience" thing. I haven't really seen it play out in a positive way yet.

All of our impact players (price, subban, caufield, Suzuki, even Gallagher) made an impact and impression during their first dozen games.

Again, no judgment yet, but forgive me for being cautiously pessimistic with the patience thing and highly rated prospects

"This person who disagrees with me on a hockey pick is an idiot!"
-Supposedly Positive Non-Toxic Hockey Fans

How many times will we have to read those dumb, ridiculous takes on Slafkovsky’s play or even career trajectory by people who will never like him anyway because the habs didn’t draft their golden boy, before we can call you guys out?

You guys can literally sh*t on the kid for pre-season games but we should shut up and say nothing?

Always the same people who pollute the threads with negativity all the time.

He haven’t even played an actual game of his rookie season at 18 years old and you’re already talking as if people has been asking you guys to be patient for 4 years…

Suzuki and Caufield were older by the way. Cole was 20.
