Russians certainly came to skate in this OT. Two straight plays where they just turn on the jets and blow past the Swedish D for a crack at the goalie.

Khusnutdinov especially was impressive on his rush. Serious wheels.

I'll flesh out the idea a little more after tonight's game since we'll know the elimination round matchups by that point, but I think I want to do the first avatar pack contest by tying to the WJCs.

Basically once we know what the elimination brackets are I'll run a prediciton contest for the rest of tonight and tomorrow (since everyone has the day off). Everyone who wants in can submit their predictions for the 4 quarterfinal matches and we'll keep going through the semis and medal games and at the end the winners will receive some booster packs for their collections (and as a way for me to get more stuff into circulation.)

I'm thinking it's just going to be a modified SNOG setup. Pick the winner and score and get points for each correct element. Possibly have the option of letting people "gamble" by declaring an OT or SO win (where, unlike the other parameters, you can lose points for being wrong as a means of not letting it be a free bonus)

Like I said, I'll discuss the concept more once the USA/Swe game is over and we know what our Jan 2 games are going to be.
